How can I get some help with Brave browser?
1/22/24 | Me, Myself, & I

I have always used Brave browser to do my online banking. Now, when I try to log in using Brave, all my login attempts are rejected and I have to resort to using Safari, which works. I tried to contact Support at Brave, but they have their website so obfuscated as to make it impossible to ask for support (which I'm sure is their intent). Has anyone experienced a similar problem, that Brave is now messing up logging in to a particular website that always used to work?

It could be your bank. Perhaps they made a change of some sort, or they dropped supporting the Brave browser.

I use Brave as my everyday browser but my Costco CitiCard account has never worked on it. Have to use Chrome for that one only.

Are you banking passwords stored in Brave, or do you have to enter them each time?

(By the way. None of my financial institutions ids and pwds are store in any browser. It’s a pain, but I have to remember them. At least they cannot be hacked into on my PC).

I've used the Brave browser on my desktop for many years but I never log out unless I'm doing maintenance.

Having said that I just finished a maintenance routine and logged into my bank (Chase) with the Brave browser with no problem.

I would never store my passwords in any browser or anti viral "cloud". I input them manually each time.

It could be your bank.

I was on the phone with my bank and they said no changes had been made on their side.

Clear the cache. Try again.

Try this. On the brave pulldown menu, which is the 3 horizontal bars on the far right, pull it down and select “NEW PRIVATE WINDOW”. Then try to login to the website.

If it works using this method, then it was a cookie problem and you should clear cookies associated with the website you were using

Until just now, I was able to log into my bank any time I wanted, with impunity. Now it doesn't like Brave. At least it takes Safari.

Perhaps you have scripts blocked or a VPN running. I like Brave but commerce sites don’t like it’s ad blocking and cookie settings.

Nope, opening a private window in Brave did not work.

"That combination doesn't match our records. You can try again, or we can help you create a new password or find your username."

I think I'll "pass" on that wonderful suggestion. Save it for April 1.

NONE of my financial institutions like Brave. I use MSEdge for banking, and MSEdge alone. That is the sole time I do use MSEdge, BTW.

Brave just implemented a new AI assistant called “Leo” that is inserting itself in ordinary functions. I don’t know how to get rid of it, but it could be part of the problem
