Nothing is sacred in Hollywood. Everything they own the rights to is just possible fodder for a remake or re-imagining. While Disney is notorious for this, Paramount is taking its swing at the title for “most unwanted reimagining” with a remake of “It’s A Wonderful Life.”
Paramount, along with “Black-ish” director Kenya Barris, plans on remaking the iconic holiday film for modern audiences by remaking the film with POC actors because that worked out so well for “The Wonder Years” reboot.
Barris mentioned this project, along with a new “Wizard of Oz” film set in Inglewood at the Sundance Film Festival. Variety reported on the comments that were made by Barris as he was taking part in the Variety Studio presented by Audible

However it is understandable to have people frustrated over having their culture taken from them.
We need to blame the Left and the DEI agenda for taking over all of our institutions. Now we are dealing with the consequences.
Unfortunately, some comments on this thread are racist. I think we are better than that here on FR. Back in the old days, I would never see a thread like this. But I guess like you said, people were not this frustrated. A lot of things have changed in the past 20 years. But here we are.
Yup, I agree Snoop Dog is the perfect black George Bailey
“However it is understandable to have people frustrated over having their culture taken from them.
Cultural ownership eludes definition, as it is not tethered to any individual, making it impervious to appropriation.
Conversely, “It’s a Wonderful Life” stands as a corporate asset exclusively owned by Paramount, empowering them with sole authority over licensing decisions for their product.
As much as one cringes whenever Hollywood attempts a remake of a classic, we can hope that a well-crafted black version of It's a Wonderful Life would translate an uplifting message from traditional America into terms that resonate with black Americans today. Sure, as in Blackish, racism as an impediment will no doubt be referred to, but if the broader message of It's a Wonderful Life is preserved, it and other obstacles will be overcome through grit and hope, with the earned esteem and comfort of family and friends as the reward.
If done well, the result could be hit that crosses over to general audiences.
It needs to be original.
The Cosby Show. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air were popular sitcoms featuring Black families. And they were original.
Just another example of “everything the Left touches they destroy.” There are no exceptions.
Lets remake “Shaft” for modern audiences. Maybe we could get Liam Neeson to play John Shaft.
Mr Potter could be a mean white venture capitalist who is buying up all the Wallgreens drug stores, Albersons supermarkets and gas stations .
He is shutting them down because the theft and car jackings are out of control and they are losing money hand over foot.
This is creating food and medicine deserts which is forcing the ghetto homeys to pick up and leave due to the shortages of ho hos, chips, needles and narcan.
Potter is trying to buy up the empty properties and remod and gentrify the ghettos to make them safe for Google and Facebook yuppies from San Francisco.
Snoop Dog Bailey is hitting up Gavin Newsome for a government supplied living wage, 5 million bucks in reparations per resident, free needle and narcan dispensers, 3 free school meals per day for the entire family- even if they don't have kids, porta potties with drug parapehelia for shooting up on every street corner, free ambulance and hospitals for drive by shootings and preferred admits to Stanford and Berkeley. Mobilize the national guard with Army fuel tankers with free fuel to residents Cadillac Escaldes and Lexus sedans
It's a wonderful life.
One flop! Comin’ up!!!

Ha!...Great stuff...Art imitates life.
Wonder what they will use instead of real tear gas during the “teen” mob shoplifting scenes at Dillards.
mixed couples make up 100% of the population if you go by TV ads ,LOL
Yes, that scene never fails to make the uninitiated jump. It is a fun to watch the reaction.
You might think that the US is a black majority country. Visitors from across the seas must be surprised to see they make up 13% of the population.
It does when the movie shows the “gone to crap” images.
“In what way????”
derp
How about coming up with something original instead of befouling existing IPs? Very few remakes are done well and respectful of the original material. And there is no “modern audience”...
Very intelligent answer......
“Very intelligent answer......’
