A journalist who took aim at Russian officials and promised to release details of “gigantic corruption” was found dead near a roadside over the weekend, but the circumstances of his death remain shrouded in mystery.
“It will be almost impossible to determine whether foul play was involved Rybin’s death or whether he died of heart disease as some Russian media outlets claim,” Rebekah Koffler, a strategic military intelligence analyst and the author of “Putin’s Playbook,” told Fox News Digital.
Alexander Rybin, 39, was found near a highway some 130 miles outside the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, where he had spent time reporting on the Russian invasion.
The official cause of death was that he died from “cardiomyopathy” after an autopsy, The Sun reported, citing Russian state media.
Some outlets have described Rybin as a pro-Kremlin journalist, but in the last few weeks of his life he had grown highly critical of officials in the region.
He blamed rampant corruption for the slow rebuilding of the city and Donetsk region.
In one of his last reports, Rybin reported that Mariupol had “gigantic money” and “gigantic opportunities for corruption.”
According to a translation from The Sun, Rybin explained that his “personal impression” - which he tried to stress was not an accusation of any kind - “is that there is a gigantic corruption going on in Mariupol, which the Russian army occupied with heavy fighting in spring 2022.”

It was the high lead levels in the left ventricle.
He probably did it publicly to extort money from the corrupt politicians.
That was my first thought.
It would be nice instead of always giving a warning about having such damaging information, people would instead, you know, just release the information.
When they tease this stuff, I now just assume it’s a nothingburger. How dumb does one have to be to say they have information damaging to Putin, Zelensky, or Biden without actually releasing it? Who knows what happened here, but putting a target on oneself seems like a bad idea to any dictators, ours included.
He have heart attack and fell out of window onto exploding bomb, and was killed in shooting accident.
It worked out so well for Robespierre.
Ruled a suicide..............
“Worst case of suicide I’ve ever seen.”
You have to be suicidal to make a statement like that. I’d release the information first, or at least make sure 20 more people had the info ready to go if anything should happen to me.
Could be. Then again, many Russians seem to have a fatalistic sense as to personal security.
That was exactly what went through my mind, as well.
“The official cause of death was that he died from “cardiomyopathy” after an autopsy,”
They performed the autopsy before he died? Smooth move, Ruzzia!
Whatever happened to good ‘ol “Kremlin Flu”?
I wish people doing investigations didn’t tell everyone they’re doing an investigation.
I refuse to believe there are people stupid enough to leak something huge. If the Elites think you do have something, they will kill you.
“Why do people announce intentions rather than just doing stuff?”
Exactly my very first thought!
Like painting a bulls eye on your back with a sign - “shoot here!”
Cardiomyopathy after having a couple of .380 Makarov rounds put through his heart. Perfectly natural.
when will these people learn to just publish and not run their mouth...
“Whatever happened to good ‘ol “Kremlin Flu”?”
You mean the fatal disease that’s carried by .17 caliber bullets?
just to name a few russian journalists killed because of russia one way or the other....
