A New Hampshire town manager - whose gay son died aged 35 - has resigned over 'painful' homophobic comments made by a state senator.
Jim Gleason was the town manager of Littleton, New Hampshire, until he handed in his resignation on Monday citing a 'toxic work environment'.
His resignation followed months of tension in Littleton after a row broke out over three LGBTQ murals in public areas of the town.
State Senator Carrie Gendreau, who sits on the Littleton Select Board, spoke out against the pro-LGBTQ paintings back in August saying they were 'demonic' and adding: 'I don't want that in our town.'
She went on to tell the Boston Globe that she thought homosexuality is an 'abomination'.
Addressing the comments in his resignation letter seen by the Globe, Gleason said: 'This deeply hurt me and my family, as my late son Patrick was gay.'
His son Patrick died from cancer at the age of 35.
He added: 'Carrie never apologized or addressed this issue and continued to use derogatory language like "Queer" in my presence.'
On top of the comments made by Gendreau, in October, a resident went to the town office to protest against a local production of La Cage aux Folles - which stars a gay couple.
Gleason said that while protesting the play, the resident 'said she hoped I was happy Patrick was in hell with the devil where he belonged.'
When approached by the Globe, the resident said the claims were 'bull****' and said: 'He’s just trying to make a big issue out of nothing.'
Gleason had been town manager since March 2021, but said the months of controversy proved too much, forcing him to resign.

Some people are just a holes. I lived in NH. The self righteous A holes were all over the place. Most people were OK. They usually drowned out the bad ones.
‘queer’ used to be a great old word to describe something strange or odd or unusual, useful in many contexts.
I don’t know at what point in history it became a synonym for homosexual. (Same with ‘gay’ ).
“If the New Hampshire town manager is using his son’s death to advance the LGBQT movement (as appears to be the case), then pretty much anything goes”
DING DING DING WE HAVE A WINNER!!!
no more phone calls please
Judgement is left to God and if this is actually what happened it’s rather self-righteous if you ask me. What was that thing Jesus said about casting the first stone?
100 years ago people not holding such views on homosexuality were the exception.
My statement was in response to Morgana’s that ‘Some people just can’t handle the truth’.
(I fear how St. Peter may assess the apparent revelry in others’ failures that some of us seem to enjoy.)
Lots of people are quite happy to cast the first stone - and many after that. (There are religious people whose main interest seems to lie in condemning others who aren’t ‘up to snuff’.)
Okay so a few things.
1) The board member in question is free to have an opinion you disagree with, that’s life, deal with it.
2) Whether you like it or not there are people (and a lot of them) who don’t agree that homosexuality is moral, and most of the worlds major religions hold that view. They are free to hold those views even if you do not agree with them.
Now was it very christian of the “protestor” to say what he said to this man? Not really, but also, is it fare that any public money or space is being dedicated to promote homosexuality or sexual deviancy of any sort? Hell, why is sexuality of any sort being promoted at all on public land or with public money?
What I would like to know is why the hell a town of about 6,000 people feels it needs to dedicate public space for 3 pro homosexual murals? I have lived in many towns and cities and I can’t think of a single time any of them had any murals up promoting heterosexuality or any sexuality EVER up until a few years ago when the lavender mafia decided it was going to push its lifestyle on everyone.
Why is public money and/or space being used to promote or celebrate any type of sexuality?
Democrat Harry S. Truman certainly had his faults. But he was proficient in propagating memes (coining expressions).
Something about "heat" and "kitchens."
Regards,
People are free to their views.. whether you agree with them or not.
What I would like to know is why 1 single ounce of public space or money is being dedicated to promote ANY SORT OF SEXUALITY! Let alone homosexuality?
52 years old now and I can’t think of ever seeing mural in my life anywhere there ever celebrated any sort of sexuality on public space or land until the lavender mafia showed up trying to force their sexual picadillos on everyone else.
Murals in the places I have lived have never ever had any sort of sexuality of any sort in them, particularly ones on public land or spaces... then suddenly homosexual propaganda is being spent on and supported with public funds?????/
This may also be a clue: "His resignation followed months of tension in Littleton after a row broke out over three LGBTQ murals in public areas of the town."
It's enough enough to accept faggotry, it must be celebrated.
LOL - the .gif I was looking for!
State Senator Carrie Gendreau is a punk.
> I never realized the word “Queer’ was derogatory.
It’s like the n word. Only n’s are allowed to use it.
I would be thinking about it, but I wouldn’t say it out loud.
Are you at all concerned about being self-righteous and judgmental until the day you die?
There are all kinds of sins...
Yeah, this is bigggg. Newwwwwww......Groundbreaking shell shocking hard hitting news....
