World-leading indie travel news source Travel Off Path has listed Vietnam as the safest country to visit in Asia for 2024.
According to Travel Off Path, one of North America's largest travel news websites, safety is a primary concern for Americans traveling abroad, especially amid the current climate where conflicts are breaking out internationally and security is decreasing across a number of destinations.
Over the last few years, Asia has been no exception, but Vietnam has proven to be remarkably stable and safe for tourists, said the website.
It cited the latest Global Law and Order Index indicating Vietnam is not only the most peaceful state in Asia, but also the seventh worldwide.

Good to hear. We’re stopping there on a cruise this coming March. Singapore also, which is even safer.
Always check six.
When out and about, do not go alone. Every pause - be sure you and friends are looking over each other’s shoulders.
That means - there is always one person who is NOT looking at the sites.
I am serious - you have to have somebody watching your back at all times.
DO NOT wear any jewelry nor valuables when out in public - especially DO NOT wear a watch, a bracelet.
Uh! What happened to Singapore?
They were number 1 in 22 and didn’t even make the list in 23??
If that is the score, then Vietnam is tied for 2nd, not 7th due to alphabetical order.
I think I’ll pass on the “safest” Tajikistan...
From Wikipedia:
“The country has been led by President Emomali Rahmon since 1994, who rules an authoritarian regime. There is extensive corruption and widespread violations of human rights, including torture, arbitrary imprisonment, worsening political repression, and a lack of religious freedom and other civil liberties.[17][18]
How is the architecture? Both local and French colonial?
Don’t see Taiwan on the list. Been there several times and feel safe all over.
WHY are the Vietnamese people pro American in your opinion?
Thanks for the tips!
Sounds very safe and relaxing. 🙂
The war is probably what makes them so pro-American today.
Also, we won the "Cold War" of which, Vietnam was a hot spot.
I might have some manufacturing needs in Vietnam if you are a rep.
Yeah, but in Singapore if you accidentally fart, you get arrested and beaten with canes.
Darn, this old man would be happy with that ride.
Was there awhile back. Didn’t seem all that safe to me.
Yet it seems just like yesterday.
Hmmmm...odd...Just a few weeks ago I read that Japan is not only the safest country in Asia but also 2nd safest in the world behind Finland .
Most historical/interesting are old Vietnamese Imperial or Chinese towns like Hue, Dalat, and Hoi An, which is an 800 year-old town. Over-run with tourists, but they have maintained its character well.
One other thing that surprised me is how many Christians/Catholics there are, particularly in the South.
Got into the city Buonmethuot late one Saturday night. at 5 AM I heard a band playing, and looked out the window to see a Catholic Church next door, opening for Sunday Service. By 6 AM it was packed, with the crowd flowing out to their courtyard and lawn. There had to be 2000 people there for an early Sunday mass.
““Safest country” to do what?”
Being queer in public is one of the factors that they use.
Somehow this bunch has a MONOPOLY on defining what a ‘safe country’ is, even though half of what they list is NOT a factor for 95% of people who travel.
