Actor David Soul, who won cult status for his role in 1970s TV series Starsky & Hutch before topping the charts in the US and UK, has died at the age of 80.

His heartbroken wife Helen Snell confirmed the news in a statement issued this afternoon.

She said: 'David Soul - beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother - died yesterday after a valiant battle for life in the loving company of family.

'He shared many extraordinary gifts in the world as actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist and dear friend.

'His smile, laughter and passion for life will be remembered by the many whose lives he has touched.'

It was an ugly car. There was very poor visibility out the sloped rear window and the rear roof pillars were massive along with the puffed out rear quarters.

Me, too. But David Soul was my heart throb. Jeremy was sure cute enough but Joshua was deep. “Don’t Give Up On Me Baby” is still one of my favorite tunes.

BTW, HCTB is on youtube for free. I think it was loosely based on the movie Westward the Women - which was excellent.

In any case, I’m sad to know David has left the planet.

When they did the remake of Starsky and Hutch with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. They had David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser do a cameo at the end which was really cool.
