Pepper Pot was my favorite Campbell’s soup ever, so of course they stopped making it.

Thanks. I might try that, although if my wife finds out it has tripe in it, I’ll have to eat it all by myself.

Agreed. Some people, though, just won’t eat any part of a cow other than skeletal muscle tissue, and my wife is one of them. Won’t eat liver, tongue, heart, or any of that sort of thing.

Of course, I’d draw the line at stuff like eyeballs, myself. Everyone has some limits.

Must be a woman thing....

I'd except Asian women from that. I've known several guys who married Asian women (Chinese, Thai, and Filipina) and they all say their wives will cook up some of the damnedest stuff, but it's good. The Thai woman got in trouble with the law more than once for setting traps and snares in local parks and netting things out of ponds. She was from a rural upbringing in Thailand.

Yeah. It’s a ‘Girl Thang.’ I have EVERY ‘leftover’ part of just about any animal you want to name in our collection of freezers. Those parts get cooked up - OUTSIDE - and fed to the hunting dogs.

I draw the line at Rabbits. That’s as SMALL as I will go for RODENTS...and random body parts, LOL!

Where did the beloved Campbell’s Pepper Pot Soup originate?

Pepper pot is a stew commonly made in West Africa and the Caribbean. However, the dish became popular on these shores in Philadelphia and thus was named “Philadelphia Pepper Pot Soup.”

Campbell’s was making Campbell’s Pepper Pot Soup since the late 1800s but discontinued it in 2010.

Campbell’s pepper pot soup is a unique dish, an old-style recipe that uses many ingredients you can find today in the supermarket.

However, tripe (cow’s stomach) is hard to find and not everyone enjoys tripe. Tripe is not as common an ingredient as it used to be even though it does add a distinctive flavor to the soup.

This pepper pot soup recipe was actually provided by Campbell’s.
