"In a surprising move, T-Mobile, one of the leading phone service providers in the United States, has recently updated its Terms of Service (TOS) to include fines for content that they deem objectionable. This development has sparked concerns among users and raised questions about the extent of control that phone companies now have over the content we consume. Beginning on January 1, 2024, T-Mobile will start imposing fines on users who commit perceived violations on their bandwidth. This article aims to explore the implications of this policy change and its potential impact on users’ freedom of expression."

BREAKING:
@TMobile
has quietly updated their TOS to include fines for content they don’t agree with.Beginning on January 1, 2024, they will be fining users who commit perceived violations on their bandwidth.
Who knew in America that the phone providers would now be policing the content of your text messages to fine you.
S.H.A.F.T. is an acronym that stands for Sex, Hate, Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco. It outlines the categories of text messages specifically regulated due to moral and legal issues and is monitored and enforced by the Cellular Telephone Industries Association (CTIA) and the mobile carriers.
Who gets to determine what is and isn’t “hateful”?
Will political text messages be censored now as well going into 2024?
This is what
@comcast
did to me in 2019/2020 when I ran for Congress. I warned people that it would happen to others when nobody did anything to stop this when it happened to me as a congressional candidate!Nice TOS date change! Just in time for the GOP primary and 2024 presidential election!
Nothing to see here!
In a fascist America, this can be expected. In fascism, businesses enforce government policy.
That means, on their system, if you talk about something that doesn’t support liberalism, they will fine you.
>> In fascism, businesses enforce government policy.
Yup. One of the reasons why I don’t shrink away from the “Christofascist” label. Call me that! Please!
I want all my “business” to enforce the endless government policy of CHRIST.
That’s why you need to use the Signal app for texting. It encrypts on both ends.
Last summer T-Mobile decided to up-charge their customers 5% if they didn’t give T-Mobile direct bank account debits. At the time, like most, I figured it was a way to avoid losing the 3% associated with credit card charges. Silly me - seems that they wanted direct access to my bank account so that they could pull-out my fines (for this new policy) and then make me fight them to get my money back.
But, as it was, I preferred not to do either (no bank account access, no credit card upcharge), so I dropped them.
Obviously T-Mobile did this at the behest of the US Government, since it clearly did not have a business benefit for them, so I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the government has already reeled in the other major carriers to this new form of censorship.
Also, T-Mobile is not a publisher. If they are going to fine "content," then they can also be sued by someone who is offended by content they either miss or choose to allow.
Finally, there is a strong anti-trust argument that T-Mobile is only now in a position to do this due to all the prior mergers in the industry (e.g., Sprint buys Nextel, T-Mobile buys Sprint). Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile are the only major players left in the industry.

Time to cancel your Tmobile account
Unreal
In the General/Chat forum, on a thread titled Q ~ Trust Trump's Plan ~ 12/24/2023 Vol.483, Q Day 2248,Michael Protzman 1963-2023
... Something, somehow, convinced dozens of his followers to travel to Dallas on Nov. 1, 2021, and join him in Dealey Plaza, where President Kennedy was assassinated nearly 60 years before, and where, Protzman told them, he would reappear the following day, accompanied by his namesake son.
When no resurrection ensued, Protzman led his followers to the venue of a nearby Rolling Stones concert where, he promised, Keith Richards would reveal himself to be J.F.K. Jr. in a mask. When that did not happen, either, they simply stayed in Dallas, taking up residence for months at the Hyatt Regency.
Yes, and use a VPN and encrypted email as well. I use Proton for both.
T-Mobile’s Terms of Conduct:

The “T” in T-Mobile stands for the word “turd.” With A.I. they will know how much t-paper you use and if MAGA is written on your t-shirt.
So if you send a text saying “cold ain’t it?” they could fine you, I suppose.
Welcome to China.
It regards businesses sending text messages not end users...it fines text message spammers. A very good thing!

Yeah, I’m not surprised. Some of these ‘conservative’ sites are warped and delusional, not to mention hallucinating things that just aren’t there.
Well at least they won’t be fining me for texting my drug dealer.
Although I still think it’s a good idea to use Signal — which I do. ....at least until end-to-end encryption is made illegal.
BTW: all cellular carriers have similar text message anti-SPAM measures in place that follow CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association) guidelines:
