My Thoughts on January 6 and "Insurrections"
The Post & Email Newspaper ^ | 23 Dec 2023 | Don Fredrick

(Dec. 23, 2023) — Of course I cannot get into the heads of the people present, but my assumption is that many (if not most) in the January 6, 2021 crowd (and some in the Trump administration) hoped the presence of thousands of protestors would demonstrate to the House members that the voters were angry and believed the election was stolen, and that the Electoral College votes of several states with numerous election “irregularities” should not be counted but should be sent back to the states for reconsideration and auditing. But that would not be an “insurrection” in the sense of an overthrow of the government. It would merely be a crowd of protestors encouraging Congress to take an action that was within the guidelines of the U.S. Constitution. The protestors were certainly not planning to take power and grab the reins of the U.S. government. None were declaring themselves to be members of the House or Senate, or President and Vice President. They were expressing their displeasure and anger, a right that is recognized and protected by the First Amendment.

One could argue that the demonstrations on January 6 (an effort to affect the outcome of the proceedings) were little different than the demonstrations in front of the Supreme Court (an effort to affect its upcoming ruling in Dobbs, which eventually overturned Roe v. Wade). With both the January 6 and the Supreme Court demonstrations, the participants were hoping for people in government to take actions that were legally permitted. ...

Wisdom fails before the Passions of the moment. The mob rules when they have power. This act has tainted the idea of a free America.

An insurrection is an open revolt against the government, and a revolt is an attempt to overthrow the authority of the government. But the January 6 protestors were not attempting to overthrow the authority of the government

But, every last person involved in the Russian Collusion Seditious Conspiracy to Overthrow the United States Presidency, WAS!!!

the Electoral College votes of several states with numerous election “irregularities” should not be counted but should be sent back to the states for reconsideration and auditing.

The purpose of the fedsurection was to stop the expected objections from being raised. After the protestors were cleared, congress reconvened under new rues that disallowed any objections and they certified the votes.

Good article that explains with common sense how J6 was NOT an insurrection.

Our side should never allow the demonrats to ever call it that again.

He is exactly correct. In general people on the Right are pissed that the Constitution is NOT being followed as written. The examples are too numerous to mention. But the following pertains to Jan 6.

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, [not the governor under some “emergency authority” (espically one that lasted though an entire legislative session), nor some democratically elected or appoint judge]

Today I was looking for something in my emails and came across this June 4, 2020 email I sent to an old girlfriend about Trump and the 82nd Airborne.

The largest mass arrest in American history.

For those of us in improvised imprisonment, there was no food or bedding, etc, supplied, thousands of us got extremely hungry as the days dragged on but the National Guard was the primary muscle along with plenty of cops from various agencies, etc.
We met with the FBI, passing by in a line as they sat at folding tables, anyone who agreed to be interviewed was told that they would be fed and released.

Eventually, I was transferred to a D.C jail where there were boxes of 100s of dry baloney sandwiches in each cell and we could eat all we wanted. Almost 13,000 were arrested.

The media sure knows how to sell BS in all this anti-Trump
nonsense, can you imagine if Trump got old school tough?
It is very strange to be in custody in America and being starved. After several days of no food, whether out of sympathy or to avoid our building prisoner agreement (3,000 of us) to fight our way out, the National Guard guys pitched in their own money for food and gave out a small fast food single burger to each of us, and then nothing more during our time there, (they merely issued them to us and we handled the distribution ourselves.

From Wikipedia:
“At one point, so many soldiers and Marines were being moved into the area from bases along the East Coast that troop transports were landing at the rate of one every three minutes at Andrews Air Force Base in suburban Maryland, about 15 miles east of the White House.
Among these troops were 4,000 paratroopers from the U.S. 82nd Airborne Division.
Troops from the Marine Barracks lined both sides of the 14th St bridge. These troops were to back up the 5,100 officers of the D.C. Metropolitan Police, 2,000 members of the D.C. National Guard and federal agents that were already in place.
Every monument, park and traffic circle in the nation’s capital had troops protecting its perimeters. Paratroopers and Marines deployed via helicopter to the grounds of the Washington Monument.”

(snip)

“”While the troops secured the major intersections and bridges, the police roamed through the city making massive arrest sweeps and used tear gas. They arrested anyone who looked like a demonstrator, including construction workers who had come out to support the government. By 8 am 7,000 protesters had been arrested.
The city’s prisons did not have the capacity to handle that many people thus several emergency detention centers were setup including the Washington Coliseum and another one surrounded by an 8-foot-high (2.4 m) fence was set up next to RFK Stadium.
No food, water, or sanitary facilities were made available by authorities but sympathetic local residents brought supplies.
Skirmishes between protesters and police
occurred up until about mid-day. In Georgetown, the police herded the protesters and onlookers through the streets to the Georgetown University campus. The police then engaged in a back and forth with the protesters outside the university’s main gate on O Street, lobbing
tear gas over the gate each time they pushed the crowd back. Other forms of gas were used including pepper based and one that induced vomiting. Police helicopters also dropped tear gas on the university’s lower athletic field where protesters had camped the night before.
Numerous people were severely injured and treated by volunteers on campus. By afternoon the police had suppressed the disruption efforts and the protesters had mainly dispersed””
Next several days:
“”Smaller protests continued resulting in the arrests of several thousand more, bringing the total to 12,614 people, making this the largest mass arrest in U.S. history.””

The only overthrow on the government that occured on January 6 was the coup conducted against Trump.

“Treason doth never prosper, what’s the reason? For if it prosper, none dare call it treason”. Sir John Harrington, 1561-1612.””

Trump was deposed on January 7th by a stealth 25th and was no longer in charge. Milley, Pelosi, McConnell and Pence were the leaders. Milley was coordinating with China, took power over the nuclear arsenal and only accepted orders from Pelosi. He further said that all orders for military movements had to be approved BY HIM. This is documented. In Milley’s J6 testimony he is on video saying Pence gave him direct, clear and unambiguous orders to lock down DC with soldiers.
The Vice President has no such power to issue orders to the military, and the Chairman of the joint chiefs is not a Chain of Command player.
The Veep has exactly two powers, break a tie, and preside over the electors count. But Pence, was moving soldiers around, and China Milley was coordinating it. Pence SAYS he made NO effort to contact the President and did not speak to him for another 5 days. At that time he says in his book that he spoke “sternly” to him and had no more contact with him. Pence showed up at the fake inauguration to turn over the government to Biden.
THAT my friends, is a government overthrow.

Trump’s cabinet quit en masse’. IE, the conspirators “seized the radio and TV stations” with a media blitz and with all social media blacking him out.
Two divisions of soldiers were pushed into DC for martial law and it wasn’t Trump who ordered them in. It was Pence who has no such legitimate power.

The reality? Trump was told shut up and you can leave on the 20th. Resist this and you will be removed from office the next day with a public 25th. And if you force that, you will be immediately arrested along with your kids.
They allowed him to make a few minor pardons that mattered to nobody.

So by the late afternoon of January 6th, Trump was no longer in command of anything outside the distance of his voice. The DOJ ignored him, DOD ignored him, even the GOP leadership and his own vice president cut him out of everything.

This is how western nations conduct a violent coup. Stay in the White House and leave as scheduled in two weeks, or we will arrest you and you kids and immediately remove you. Very refined.

And then of course, the relentless “insurrection” narrative complete with Liz Cheney’s committee. That was the mopping up phase and reinforcing the narrative in the public square.

That was May of 1971. Trump was not involved in that. In June of 2020, the BLM/Antifa terror riots were going on. 400 were arrested and then immediately released.

And you are correct, the 82nd airborne and other units were used in riot control. Nothing new. The only new thing about J6 was the Veep giving the orders on his own!

Yes, I know that, you just read my personal experience of that Mayday 1971 event.

That email is years old and I forget the exact context but as you noticed I was talking to her about Trump and riots.

ran to her copy of the Constitution......and there it was..........”insurrection.”

this certainly was and is *not* any of the words that have since been used to describe it by various journolists of the so called right or left.

the entire responsibility for any violence—up to and including the murders of innocent protesters like Boyland and Babbitt—that resulted from the aggressive and brutal tactics used by the gov’t against initially peaceful protesters, should be laid where squarely it belongs, on the authorities in charge that day, imho.

now the main problem i have with Trump, is that he put them in harm’s way when he called for the protest, fine, but then he had to get the necessary security and protection on the field, given the evil arrayed against his supporters that day. that he obviously failed to do. why he failed to protect an asset he put on the field, and why he didn’t withdraw that asset when protection wasn’t forth coming is my first question in all of this. the subsequent persecution and gulagging of his innocent supporters and their families and why is no mystery at all to me.

That was a fantastic reply to her. People forget that era. There were belt fed machine guns set up in the entrances to the Pentagon. Those rioters were a serious communist insurgency.

Funny how they never mention the 1954 attack of the Capitol by Puerto Rican terrorists that wounded 5 Congressmen.

I think it was related to phone conversations we were having where she was worried about what was going on at the time and about her beloved Trump being attacked so much and that email was intended to give her some context about violence and political events and console her in some way.

She gave a nice reply so I guess it helped her in some way, or maybe it started her having nightmares about the 60s (70s).

Audits were rejected at the state level.

Charges brought to the courts were all dismissed without being heard... evidence never allowed in.

Supreme court rejected to hear Trump’s case, claiming he had no standing (!!!)

Jan 6th was the last legitimate/ constitutionally supported remedy to address widespread election fraud.

And those that committed the fraud killed a woman to seal their hold on the situation
