this certainly was and is *not* any of the words that have since been used to describe it by various journolists of the so called right or left.
the entire responsibility for any violence—up to and including the murders of innocent protesters like Boyland and Babbitt—that resulted from the aggressive and brutal tactics used by the gov’t against initially peaceful protesters, should be laid where squarely it belongs, on the authorities in charge that day, imho.
now the main problem i have with Trump, is that he put them in harm’s way when he called for the protest, fine, but then he had to get the necessary security and protection on the field, given the evil arrayed against his supporters that day. that he obviously failed to do. why he failed to protect an asset he put on the field, and why he didn’t withdraw that asset when protection wasn’t forth coming is my first question in all of this. the subsequent persecution and gulagging of his innocent supporters and their families and why is no mystery at all to me.
What you wrote could not happen without command and control. If Trump had such an ability on that day, it would have been an insurrection. He was not at the head of a column, showing they way into the Capitol. He told people to lawfully and legally raise their voices in protest.
