Police arrested the boyfriend of a woman who fell 100 feet to her death during a clifftop marriage proposal in Turkey — as authorities revealed that they discovered signs of a violent struggle.
Nizamettin Gursu was arrested five months after his 39-year-old girlfriend, Yesim Demir, plummeted off a cliff in Canakkale, a city in northwestern Turkey, on July 6, Newsflash reported Wednesday.
Gursu told authorities Demir had said “Yes” but as he was grabbing celebratory food and drinks from his car, he heard a blood-curdling scream — and returned to the romantic picnic site to find his bride-to-be had tumbled over the ledge.
But during their investigation, police discovered that the ring Gursu claimed to have given Demir after she accepted his proposal was still in its box inside his pocket.

I remember Canakkale (pr. CHON-AWK-A-LEE). Many, many, years ago.
“Gallipoli, or Troy, or thereabouts.”
Just across the strait (Dardanelles) from Gallipoli.
Should have said she was taking a selfie. Lot’s of precedent for that.
A 'clifftop marriage proposal' should have made her reconsider, at least at that very moment.
Gursu doesn't seem like the type to be hanging around with on a clifftop.
She broke up all right. Very sad, so I hope the story is fake.
I do wonder, how many fellows (innocently enough) decide to propose on a clifftop because that would be super romantic?
And then if they really did that are answered, "And if I should say 'No'?"
So they'd have a good laugh and memory, but then again...
The "what was he thinking" bell should have dinged, because if he had thought it through, he wouldn't have done that (unlike Gursu).
What other important decisions, then, might he not think through?
It's a slippery slope!
I saw a Mark Wahlberg movie like this.................
Cute dress.
They will have to be able to prove he pushed her.

Different countries have different rules.

I am not a lawyer so I do not know how this case will be handled but I suspect that if they want him to be guilty he will be found guilty
No matter what the evidence shows, in the end, she fell for him.
She probably told him days before and he may have plotted a face saving way to get rid of her until hitting upon abducting her and tossing her off a cliff and covering it up as a fake proposal site. The “signs of a struggle” could be the drag marks from her pulling her out of the car and to the edge.
I was thinking along those lines too. She was considering breaking up with him but she went out on what appears to be a date with him. She should have just told him that she wanted to end their relationship and just be friends. And tell him this at HER house, not on a cliff. Who knows though, he might have killed her later on anyway.
She’s a nice looking woman. Unfortunate that she had a relationship with such a jackass.
Not in Turkey. They don’t use English Common Law.
You FR people are horrible. That’s why I like it here.
“That was a stupid lie. They would have found her absent the ring.”
He should have tossed the ring over the cliff.
“Upon further investigation, officers discovered the ring near the body at the base of the cliff.

However, it was still in the box.”

Perfect!
**Marriage is a big jump, just saying.**
Yes sir, and figuratively was for me. I liked being single, but I did like the search for the right girl; meeting, then a date or a few (one date is usually enough to figure out how the chick ticks). I dated one about 5 months because she was pretty and had a nice personality. However, I just wasn’t in love with her.
Then I found out she liked wacky tobacky. I knew I needed to move on. My addiction to driving fast, and the possibility of getting pulled over with her in the car, was not a good combination.
Dated my wife almost 5 months before asking her, simply because I wasn’t convinced that she really loved me. Turned out that she was thinking the same thing about me. (She had me wrapped around her finger within two weeks of meeting her.)
Glad I took Mom’s advice, and was patient in my wife search.
In Italy it is also guilty until proven innocent. That college girl Amanda Knox that was charged for killing her roommate. I heard that she is going back there to either sue them or have some minor charges be wiped off her slate.
Where did you get that about Italy? Not guilty until conviction is in their constitution.
Islam is bad news, especially for women.
