IIRC, much of the ire regarding the tea tax was that it wasn't applied to everyone equally -- making tea merchants loyal to the crown (East India Tea Company) have an unfair advantage over other tea merchants.
In other words, the Boston Tea Party was as much a statement for equal treatment under the law as it was a statement regarding tax.

The federal deficit in 2023 has jumped to $1.7 trillion, an astonishing 23% increase on the prior year. And no one seems bothered.
Nothing changes till the cashflow stops.
We woke up one morning, read the paper and learned the USSR was bankrupt. It happened that fast.
A major world power has gone bankrupt in our lifetime.
What is important is what happens afterward. Prepare now for the rebuild. WHAT SHOULD WE DO TO PREPARE FOR THAT?

protectionism never works? it seemed to be doing just fine until the 16th amendment in 1913. the author seems to be claiming that everything between 1776 and 1913 was in essence dysfunctional.
