While looking at the photos of the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Agnes in 1972, it occurred to us that the 1970s were just awful.
Worst decade ever.

The top 10 sucked, but lower on the 1979 list you find Eagles, Doobies, Queen, Dire Strits, Supertramp, Charlie Daniels, Fleetwood Mac, The Police, Tom Petty, Joe Jackson
I made a $1.50 an hour in 77... Under the table..
Ditto, I was having a pretty good time.
And beer was 5 cents a mug at one bar and $1 all you can drink. Now at $30/hour beer is $6/mug, you tell me what was better :)
10-Cent Beer Night at Cleveland Stadium.
“I recall seeing Eric Clapner in concert in 1976”
Ha! I still want to say Eric Clapner but most people don’t get the joke. Then I have to explain it to them.
I’m agreeing with Joe Walsh who said at an Eagles concert a few months back:
“I had more fun in the 70s when I was in my 20s, than the 20s when I’m in my 70s”.
Back in the 70s I also agreed with Neil Young, “lets roll another number for the road”.
But those ankle pants are fugly, worse than bell bottoms.
It’s a draw
What made the 70s so bad? We were afraid of being taken over by communists. How does that compare to actually being taken over by communists?
Don’t forget disco.
LOL - “Eric Clapner”: Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders, the dizziest SG until “Rachel” Levine.
The Democrats remain mired in the ‘70s. Every one of their causes is right out of a 1974 “All in the Family” rerun.
At this point I would give ANYTHING to go back to the Seventies. I was a teen. It was great . We had values and great music and still had hope.
Fair point. I was thinking more of disco and the more or less identical stadium rock groups. The Eighties were a breath of fresh air in a lot of ways.
You know what they say. It’s not really the old times that we miss. It’s ourselves back then.
***Dang OPEC and our own unwillingness to drill.***
I remember when the environmentalists got the Alaska Pipeline shut down. One told me it would never be finished. I said that if there is another oil shortage it will be up and running! They laughed.
Today the Alaska pipeline is up and running as it has been since the Arab Oil Embargo of the 1970s.
I miss a world that’s NOT THE CURRENT ONE. I’d love to be more naive again. Because knowledge sucks, and once you GET IT, there’s no turning back or turning it off
Yes.
