You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!
I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.
HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER
One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

I’ve never been a fan of The Boss, but he makes a decent puzzle.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER
To: Apple Pan Dowdy
Well, it flowed fairly well once I realized that "Hal's Crytogram Helper" had screwed up the spacing of the letters within words. What looked like a one-letter word followed by a two- or multi-letter word actually turned out to be one actual word.
It threw me for a minute until I started comparing the actual cryptogram words with the way that "Hal" was spacing them in the helper.

I had the same experience. Maybe HAL was toying with us. When I posted it in https://quipqiup.com/ the computer solved it without a hitch. Then I noticed the fault was with HAL. As I was solving it in real time, I thought Apple’s puzzle was deliberately done that way to illustrate the point of the quote. Certainly made it challenging!

Last letter of last word, then 15th word.
Good L uck.

My apologies, I should have changed the dash in NHQ’J—ET to a comma and it would make more sense.

That particular one didn't give me any problems. Rather, for example, the first "word" of the quote was broken by HAL into two words, a one-letter word and a two-letter word. Again, for example, the second to the last "word" was broken into two words, a one-letter word and a four-letter word; and the fourth-to-last "word" (the first name of the author) was broken into two words, a one-letter word and a five-letter word.
I think I may agree with Lonesome ... it may have been something used by HAL to add emphasis to the phrase itself; it DID require human interaction to solve it, above-and-beyond the assistance provided by HAL.

No apology needed. It approximately doubled the time required to solve a relatively easy example. I thought it was intended to illustrate the point it was making! How clever!
BTW, on April 1st I posted a completely unsolvable “bonus quote” - apparently no one caught on! Just a random collection of letters. I apologize. Really, I do!

Would not go if given one.
