That particular one didn't give me any problems. Rather, for example, the first "word" of the quote was broken by HAL into two words, a one-letter word and a two-letter word. Again, for example, the second to the last "word" was broken into two words, a one-letter word and a four-letter word; and the fourth-to-last "word" (the first name of the author) was broken into two words, a one-letter word and a five-letter word.
I think I may agree with Lonesome ... it may have been something used by HAL to add emphasis to the phrase itself; it DID require human interaction to solve it, above-and-beyond the assistance provided by HAL.
