Joe Scarborough has made it a habit to mock House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer as a comical hillbilly, like the goofball sheriff from The Dukes of Hazzard. He suggested in September that Arnold the Pig from Green Acres could do a better job in Congress than Comer.
On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough—raised in the Florida panhandle and educated at the University of Alabama—was back attacking Comer and his probe of the Biden family influence-peddling business, claiming they have no evidence of wrongdoing:
"Well, we ain't really got nuthin' but a squirrel fryer and a hound dog."
Later, Scarborough piled on the backwoods stereotypes, saying:
"Comer and his gang are running for the hills. In their coon hats, holding a squirrel fryer in their left hand and a shotgun in the right!"

Alabama alumni don’t acknowledge that dip$hit.
Oh?
Scarborough was a pretender in congress and is about as conservative southern as Henry Ford.
He’s been an imposter since he left Florida. He can’t help it.

How many of Comer’ staffers have died under “questionable” circumstances?
I’ll have the squirrel. Joe can eat crow.
I’m backwoods, Joe, and I’ll tell ya this much. When we made a living, we ended up with animal blood on the kitchen table and not an intern’s blood on the office floor.
Why does Comer want a closed door depo first?
*****
The impeachment committee wants to ask Hunter Biden about his money-laundering and influence-peddling behind closed doors, so they can get a real deposition. They have factual questions they want answers to, be they accurate answers or be they perjurious.
Hunter Biden doesn't want to do that. He wants to have a monkey-flinging spectacle. He says he'll only appear for a public questioning with the cameras rolling.
James Comer rejects this "offer."
On Tuesday morning Hunter Biden's attorney Abbe Lowell informed the House Oversight Committee that his client would comply with a subpoena issued earlier in the month by Chairman James Comer, but only for public testimony. The subpoena specifically requires Hunter to sit for a closed door deposition.
AdvertisementComer is rejecting the antics and standing firmly behind the terms issued in the subpoena to Biden on November 8.

"Hunter Biden is trying to play by his own rules instead of following the rules required of everyone else. That won't stand with House Republicans. Our lawfully issued subpoena to Hunter Biden requires him to appear for a deposition on December 13," Comer released in a statement Tuesday. "We expect full cooperation with our subpoena for a deposition but also agree that Hunter Biden should have the opportunity to testify in a public setting at a future date."
Yes, of course, but only once we've gotten actual answers from him -- or else a plea of the Fifth Amendment's right to avoid questioning if the answer would incriminate him.
Rep. Jim Jordan
@Jim_JordanDonald Trump Jr. sat for two depositions with Congress.
Why can't Hunter Biden?
I like that the Republicans want to quiz him behind closed doors. That suggests they want legally-consequential answers to questions, and not just to put on a show for constituents.
Joe had a hankerin’ to be an imitation He Coon from the panhandle.
Never made it and went in the opposite direction.
But he can say honestly - and shamefully - say he fooled a lot of conservative voters before he came out.
I believe Comer and friends want to be able to spin the Hunter responses. Air and light is what this needs. And that’s a public hearing.
The only thing public hearings produce (in a Republican-led Congress) is mudslinging and sound bites.
All in service of raising money for political campaigns.

I loathe this man.
He’s a turd. I’m embarrassed he went to my Alma mater.
