As one data point -- there are quite a few short videos on YouTube of women yelling at men for being misogynist. And the man says, "Help me out ... can you define misogynist for me? I don't understand that word." And the woman has no idea.

I think a lot of people are the Left just feel unhappy with what is around them, and they just want it to all go away and be better. That's vague as heck, but I suspect it comes down to alienation and lack of connection with others (social media is a big part of this disconnection).

I think people on the Left wouldn't necessarily pin the blame for their own unease on "western civilization" but they have code words in their head about "the struggle". They blame misogyny, the patriarchy, racism, people who aren't vegan, people who aren't worried about climate change, the Jews, the Rich, and Christianity. Basically, if western civilization were destroyed, maybe things would be better.

The Left wants it all torn down. They see that terrorists want to tear it down. The Left decides that the terrorists are the Good Guys.

None of this comes from deep thinking.

It is simple. The left reverses the arrow of causality. If a group is poor, it cannot be their actions and policies which make them poor. It has to be the result of another group "oppressing" them.

Terrorists lack military power. It is why they are terrorists.

Because they lack military power, in the eyes of the Left, they must be being "oppressed" by another group or group.

Therefore, in the eyes of the left, the terrorists are always the good guys and those fighting them are the bad guys.

Even when the Left is in power and controls the military, police, courts, and all means of production, they still define themselves as the underdogs, and therefore the "good guys".

Notice the CCP and Russia still claim to be the ones under attack.
