Draft dodging in "ukraine"....
A Lieutenant told the new arrivals that there was not a single thing in Nam worth dying for or being maimed over and that the only thing any of them should be trying to do was serve their year and a half or whatever and come back to the states substantially in one piece and in roughly the conditioin in wihch they left it.
Zelensky’s plan to not have anyone left to oppose his next election.
Which one reason that some units were less effective than others.
My younger brother joined the army (and is featured in the Tunnels of Cu Chi) and served well - was wounded. The two of us have been close over the years.
Guess it depended on the leaders’ training and commitment.

Call them realists. Many here realize supporting a corrupted, senile Godless old man’s war will result in disaster for America. Ukraine and their corrupted government simply have to “ pay the piper”.

That was me,they were drafting everybody with a pulse. My Dad was WW2 Navy, older brother cold war Navy. Joined 4 year Navy, did about 1 1/2 year tech/mechanical schools before I ever saw a ship.
Made a good living for about 50 years after partly because of that training.
That's the point I was making. You should not be using draftees in combat for any kind of a cause, good, bad, or indifferent; only if your coungtry is in peril and there is no other way out.
Ideas as to what constitutes a good cause will differ.
Both of my roommates (ages 25 and 27) have already made the “Hell, no! We won’t go!” pledge. They’ve heard rumors about the draft being reimposed, but swear they won’t comply with it or fight for that election stealing sack of $#!+ in the White House.
Military service is no longer some kind of “rite of passage” into “manhood,” due to the Pentagon’s eager recruitment of women, homosexuals, and trannies. Many construction, oil field, and logging jobs are far manlier than the modern western world’s armed forces.
I understand that and those guys are old.
When the government actually does something like a draft and sends non-compliant guys to prison, young men usually do like everyone else in life when truly faced with the choice to be one against the world and they decide that they aren’t the imaginary human rarity that they like to fantasize they are.
Being 18 or 19 and facing the reality of spending 2 years in prison is a horrible prospect once they start thinking on the reality of that life, suddenly the well-paid, well-fed life of doing an honorable job in the Army or Marines and growing up among fellow soldiers or Marines with 30-day paid vacations, spiffy uniforms, and free college degrees doesn’t seem so bad.
I remember the draft and the draft world very well, and what you hear has little to do with reality when life decisions really have to be made, young men are not actually fully formed dedicated political activists who fully know their own minds and whose lack of desire to serve in the military and be away from their buddies and girlfriend makes them totally inflexible to change and adventure, adjusting to adult life is how they end up married, or working in a corporate cubicle, or managing a donut shop as they grow up and adjust to real life.
Our WWII military was about 61% drafted, all services drafted, including the Navy and Coast Guard, a lot of those Gung-ho Marines you read about were draftees.
Our WWII Army was about 93% draftees.
The antiwar movement that would flare up if Biden gets us into the Ukraine war and Congress reimposes the draft would make the ‘60s counterculture look downright docile. The very same demographic the war pigs need to fight in Ukraine despises and hates Joe Biden and would never serve him. That’s why I don’t think the Democrats and Rinos are dumb enough to get us into the Ukraine war or attempt conscription. At least not as long as Biden is in power...
There are a dozen ways from Sunday to resist a draft besides outright refusing to serve, a la Muhammed Ali (even though only one percent of such resisters did prison time). From faking medical and psychiatric conditions, to skipping the country, to simply saying, “I was in Washington on January 6,” or wearing a MAGA hat to the pre induction physical. There’s no way Biden’s cadre of gangbangers, homos, and Marxists would risk arming and training “insurrectionists!”
I don’t know how Ukraine and the draft get connected but as far as how to get out of a true national draft, the government would make the rules on what works and what doesn’t, you think supporting the republican would keep you out of a draft, I doubt that.
Faking medical and mental is up to those who determine whether you are faking or not and what the standards are, flat feet, a claim of a bone spur, or a sudden claim of asthma might not work today or in an individual’s case.
It also seems you confused resisters with evaders, as far as Ali, he was willing to go to prison to not fight for America and Christians, he was not anti-war and there is no indication he would not have fought for Islam.
Putin is trying to institute, in whatever form he can, the Soviet Union. To allow that is to embolden other evil men to also pursue power by taking from others. The best result would be another cold war, the worst a world war.
Biden in whatever weak and weaselly way he has supported Ukraine is right. Using Ukraine as a proxy, drain the military power of a dangerous evil world power.
If Trump was doing this (Better, cheaper, and more effectively. If it needed to be at all.) would your opinion stay the same? Trump didn't do anything because the situation didn't change during his office. Had it had, would he have displayed American weakness, cowardice, and unresolve?
I regret using the word “Putanistas” as it demeans and clouds the reality, but I was frustrated that there were those Freepers who hadn't thought it through.
“The government” makes the rules. Rebels disobey them. Especially when those running “the government” steal elections. That’s why they’re called “rebels.”
Information for how to beat the draft was readily available in the ‘60s. It would be *far* easier to obtain nowadays, and from the left as well as the right: many “antifascists” and peaceniks in the Democrat party would balk at being forced into a neocon misadventure in eastern Europe (or the Middle East).
The elites (Democrat and Republican) want American “boots on the ground” in Ukraine. That’s why conscription has been brought up so often lately. The elites will probably try invading Russia and imposing “regime change” if they ever get American ground troops in Ukraine.
The youngsters I know aren’t “antiwar” across the board either. They’d fight if the Chinese invaded, for example. But they would *not* get crippled, maimed, or killed for Joe Biden in some conflict that isn’t any of America’s business! Chances are they’d also tell a neocon RINO p.o.s. like Pence or Romney to piss off...
I fought the draft for 2 years and beat it before I enlisted in the Army, I know that you don’t know much about that draft, and that you will never be facing a draft.
Basically, you have a goofy and ignorant rant and want to mix the word “draft’ into it for some reason.
No need for me to keep beating a horse that isn’t even a live foal yet, but it’s your word against many books about the draft I read in the East Central University library when I was a student there in the ‘90s. Some were written by communist front/Soviet subversive organizations, but that doesn’t mean their advice wouldn’t have worked. One can learn a lot from the enemy!
I wouldn’t have complied with conscription had Boi Clinton imposed it for his Bosnia war (which was a real threat when I was in my early 20s). I’ll do whatever I can to help the young men I work alongside resist the war pigs if that turd occupying the Presidency today gets America into the Ukraine $#!+ show.
