That was me,they were drafting everybody with a pulse. My Dad was WW2 Navy, older brother cold war Navy. Joined 4 year Navy, did about 1 1/2 year tech/mechanical schools before I ever saw a ship.
Made a good living for about 50 years after partly because of that training.
Our WWII military was about 61% drafted, all services drafted, including the Navy and Coast Guard, a lot of those Gung-ho Marines you read about were draftees.
Our WWII Army was about 93% draftees.
