Shocking video captured the moment a California highway patrol officer shot a pedestrian after a struggle in Los Angeles.
Police were called to the I-105 at Wilmington Avenue on Sunday afternoon over a pedestrian who reportedly was walking in and out of traffic on the freeway.
Footage taken by a witness shows an officer on the ground struggling with the pedestrian.
The officer then shoots the pedestrian at least three times until he stops moving.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital but his condition is unknown.
The officer was unharmed, according to highway patrol.
The shooting prompted the closing of several westbound lanes on the highway.
NBC LA reported blood was splattered in the middle of the lanes and traffic was significantly impacted by the shooting.
Authorities said all westbound lanes of the 105 Freeway near Willowbrook would remain closed until early on Monday.
Social media users reported being stalled in an hours-long traffic jam following the shooting.
Police have not issued a statement on what led to the shooting.
'A struggle ensued and an officer-involved shooting occurred,' highway patrol said in a statement.

Problem fixed
Anyone stupid enough to fight with a Copper is stupid enough.
Is there a story in the DM that is NOT “Shocking”?
Wilmington, Long Beach, Willowbrook. So glad I no longer reside anywhere near those places.
The Daily Mail said there’s a video but didn’t include it with the article. I need to see the video before making any judgement here.
Well if you're gonna shoot somebody, do so until they stop moving.
Not a great part of town - the 105 is one of the main routes to the airport, LAX, so it must have been a nightmare yesterday - that along with the 10 being closed near downtown - I got caught in that on Wednesday and it was a nightmare.
Newsom says the 10 will be open by tomorrow...can’t wait to see that.
Drive over the blood. It won't do any harm.
I would be shocked if there weren’t. 😁👍
🙏🇺🇸🇮🇱👍
By the way, I love one sentence paragraphs.
They make any news report seem important.
I wish more agencies reported this way.
It’s way cool.
I wonder how many cameras will be trained on that stretch when traffic starts going over it.
“Sir, sir! Please exit the highway! Walking on the highway could be dangerous. Please exit the highway now!”
“We warned you, sir. We said walking on the highway could be dangerous. But you didn’t believe us.”
BANG!
“Believe us now?”
Another example of how the pendulum of concern and care for people with mental health issues/mental illness has swung to far in the direction of leaving them alone and has to swing back to obtaining forced insititutional care more often. However, that swing back to more institutional care will have to install some safegaurds against the worst abuses that used to occur too often with insitutional mental illness care.
Succinct declarative sentences convey the message best
The pedestrian or the officer?................
Not a cop industry fan.
However, if one runs from, or fights a cop,
They should be shot.
End of story.
Website also says: “Footage shows an officer shooting the pedestrian at least five times”
That’s a pretty glaring difference in one article. Of course, it’s the Daily Mail UK.
The article is also short on facts, the main one being whether or not the suspect was armed. Yes, and it was a good shoot. No, and maybe it wasn’t a good shoot.
