Comedian Dana Carvey and his wife Paula announced the death of their son, Dex Carvey, on Thursday in an emotional tribute posted to Instagram.
Dex Carvey, a 32-year-old comedian, died from an accidental drug overdose, his parents said.
"Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things -- music, art, film making, comedy -- and pursued all of them passionately," the post read in part. "It's not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life. And when you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun. But most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee."
The former "Saturday Night Live" star and his wife then shared a touching anecdote of how their son shared his love and creativity.
"Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever."
The grieving parents also took the time to reach out to anyone struggling with addiction, saying, "To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers."
Dex Carvey had previously made an appearance on his father's Netflix special, "Straight White Male," and had continued to perform stand-up comedy.
Following his initial post announcing his son's death, Dana Carvey went on to post several touching photos with Dex.
"Dex and me working together. What a joy," Dana Carvey captioned a photo of the pair working and laughing.
Back when I watched SNL 30 years ago. Dana was great as The Church Lady, and with Kevin Nealon as Hanz and Franz “pump you up”

All I knew of this kid was Regis Philbin decades ago bellowing, “What kind of a name is Dex?!” But what I can’t remember is whether it was the real Regis who said that or Dana Carvey doing Regis as a bit.
In any case, recreational drug use is a scourge in this nation, and no families are immune. And the Soros-backed de facto decriminalization of possession and dealing in the name of “social justice” and “antiracism” hasn’t done anyone any favors.
Said it was “accidental Drug overdose”....

We lost our first born child and only son in June to a combination of Wellbutrin and alcohol. He fell off the wagon after 5 weeks of sobriety and made the horrible decision to stop the demons by ending his life. He was 41 and although he packed a lot of living into his short yrs, it still wasn’t enough time for us. The pain is indescribable and I feel for Dana and his wife.
Tgey know what it was. They’re not obligated to tell us.
Carvey senior had some serious CV issues years ago. Back around 2000, IIRC. Before he was 40.
Or to tell us the truth.

How heartbreaking. I know that has to hurt constantly. I’ll pray the pain is lessened as the days go by and that your memories of the child you loved so much grow sweeter.

Been there too.
I was going to say, if someone has a drug addiction problem and ends up taking drugs and dies, how is it an accident? They also say the bathroom door was locked, so either we was trying to hide the fact from his girlfriend that he was taking drugs still, or he decided to end it. Either way, a sad end to a relatively young person.
