The story brought tears to both the wife and I. Dogs are special, and this one was very, very special. As lonely as it will be, my prayers are to outlive both my wife and my dog. I want to be there for them for everything.

I’m surprised that Finney survived that long near a decomposing body. There are lots of predators/scavengers in those woods (bears, coyotes, cougar) who would be attracted by the smell and who would see a starving Jack Russell terrier as a meal.

So pitiful. Their loyalty is humbling. My Dad’s dogs died one by one of grief when he passed. Could not do a thing to help them. Disney made a movie decades ago about a little do named Grey Friar’s Bobbie. It was a good lesson.
