A woman said she was shocked to discover that Alaska is not an island and that it's possible to drive to it during a conversation with her Canadian boyfriend. z,pz. In the video posted on October 26, TikToker Sabriena Abrre asked people not to call her a "stupid American" as she admitted her mistake. "Everybody knows that Alaska is cold," she said. "But did I know that it was connected by land? No. I did not know that."

not if it’s willful...
This individual admits to having been ignorant, and talks about learning the truth.
She is a victim of educational malpractice.
The malpracticing “educators” are doing so willfully.
If it’s Tic Toc, it’s a stunt.
I don't fault anyone for thinking that. It's Manhattanites who perpetuate that idea. To them anyone who's not in Manhattan, London, Tokyo, L.A., or Paris might as well not exist.

Growing up, the maps put it on the bottom left, as they did Hawaii.
I can understand why someone might assume both are islands.
Have you ever looked at a map?
Yes, thanks!
Sorry, crazy day.
Yes. I was at a Hobby Lobby with the wife and they had a small one for sale. Probably about one foot in diameter.
Same for Michigan. Tell most people you are from Michigan and the only thing they think of is the cesspool of Detroit.
in her case absolutely...
I’m a native Houstonian, when I lived in San Diego in the 70s people would sometimes say, “You’ll understand once you’ve lived in the big city for a while”, what was really crazy was hearing that when I lived in Minneapolis in the late 1980s.
I met a Welsh girl when she was on vacation in California, we got engaged and I was driving us to Houston and in Arizona I told her to roll up the windows because sometimes Indians attack, which scared her, and you should have seen her surprise when she found out we didn’t tie up our horses to the hitching post in our Texas cities.
I think that some US Americans don’t have maps and such.
Oh Yeah, lots of small ones but they have some larger for
a few thousand dollars.
Public schools teach gender and grievance studies offer pornographic books in their limited libraries and live in fear someone will call them racists.
“I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, um, some people out there in our nation don’t have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq and everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uh, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, should help South Africa and should help Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future.”
It’s called ‘crack a map’. You’d be surprised at what you could learn.
Yes, people are this stupid.
My son’s 3rd grade teacher in Florida, when told we were moving to New Mexico asked...
“Will you need to get a passport?”
She is not the only one with misconceptions about New Mexico. It is so bad that even the license plate of New Mexico is unique as it is the only one that says “USA” after the state name, just to make it clear we ARE part of the United States of America.
LOL! I am surprised she didn’t think the whole country was an island.
Well, then you’re an idiot.
