In one of Robert Heinlein’s later sci-fi books, Lazarus Long, Heinlein’s 2000-year-old man, mentions that he met him in Vancouver where he was running a con game under the name Sandy McTavish.
Fascinating. I’d never heard of this “legend” before and I was raised Lutheran.

I only know about the Roman, Casca Rufio Longinus, who stabbed Jesus on the cross and had to remain a soldier until Christ returns.
Another fun fact is that it says in verses 15 and 16 that Peter wasn't the only disciple who followed Jesus during His trial and got that close. Tradition says the other disciple is John (the writer of that gospel). Between verses 15 and 25 there's no indication that the other disciple separated from Peter. So it may be that the other disciple watched Peter deny Jesus in verses 25-27.

And where is ‘wandering the world forever’ mentioned?
What do you mean left out of the Catholic faith. Catholics absolutely have the Gospel of John. I don’t know who told you otherwise.
