I don’t think an American is going to do well in a South American prison. Born in Panama, lived and practiced law in Panama for at least the past 25 years. He received his LL.B (Bachelor of Law) in Panama in 2000. No indication of when or how long he lived in the US beyond graduating from FSU in 1969.

I don’t think an American is going to do well in a South American prison. He's a lawyer. He may know half of them already.
Also, a lot of criminals will relate to someone who did what they weren't willing to do but wished they could.
