Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Firefighters and divers responded to a boat ramp in Florida where an SUV attempting to lower a boat into the water ended up submerged.
VIDEO AT LINK...........

The Naples Fire-Rescue Department said in a Facebook post that firefighters and dive team members responded to a report of "a vehicle submerged in water at the boat ramp."
The department said all of the occupants of the vehicle were able to safely evacuate before it went underwater.
"The driver of the vehicle was putting their boat in the water when the vehicle slid down the ramp and into the water," the post said. "Rescue divers were deployed to recover the vehicle and the trailer, which was fully submerged."
The vehicle was recovered with assistance from a tow truck, the department said.
Did they successfully deploy the boat?
Typical Florida boat ramp.
I saw the same thing happen on the Mississippi River in Oregon IL years back. The guy had a nice conversion van hauling a sweet boat. His wife was in the front seat as it backed down the ramp, driverless.
The swearing would have made a Marine blush.

Harrowing!!
Many moons ago at one of the public boat ramps at Canyon Lake, Texas a guy I knew was going to launch his 18’ aluminum fishing boat. The ramp he went to had one side that was a shear drop off about 50’ to the water. He managed to jackknife the trailer with the boat still strapped on it and went over the edge with the trailer axle !!!
He called Me asking for help ASAP. I get there and the trailer is sitting on the edge and the bow is around 2’ still on the pavement side of the cliff. I couldn’t believe that the entire assembly with truck was still there and not in the water !!!
We finally ended up cutting the rear strap with a tree pole saw by sharpening the backside of the saw blade like a knife and then cutting the bow strap and watching the boat with motor/gas tank/coolers/rods and tackle fall to the water, luckily it kinda leveled out enough before hitting the water that in didn’t go stern in first and sink to the bottom of the water !!! Didn’t even knock anything out of the boat.
That lightened the trailer enough that he was able to drag the trailer back onto the boat ramp. I’m still amazed that the whole rig with him in the truck didn’t go over the edge to start with.
God was definitely watching over his ass that day !!!
This was pre-cell phone so we had no pics or video of the incident. But I can still see the whole thing in My head to this day.
Fantastic story
One of the more interesting rescues I’ve ever been involved with. I can still see the boat as it falls away.
Kinda like the scene in Die Hard when Hanz the terrorscum falls from the building.
Another successful boat launch
Yes, it’s behind the SUV............... 😜🤦♀️
Likely the ramp was covered in algae making it slippery.
If that is the case, the boat owner may have a case against the boat launch, even if it is operated by the state, or the local government.
I remember when i was a kid we had the boat loaded down for a camping weekend at Cape Lookout, NC. Just as my dad rolled the boat off the trailer, my mom asked him if he had put in the plug.
Dad had a fun time hand cranking the boat back on the trailer.
This is clearly the result of rapidly accelerating global warming. The oceans are rising so fast he didn’t have time to get his vehicle out of the water. Maybe the Chinese shouldn’t be building so many coal fired power plants.
LOL
Yeah- now.
I’ve been close to having that happen.
like most everything...
Whatever........who cares
That’s absurd, go to any Boat Launch Ramp and look. There’s gonna be algae on it. That’s just part of launching a Boat.
I’ve launched my boat many times, and the ramp never had algae.
