Ukraine last night successfully struck a Russian ship yard in occupied Crimea not far from the Kerch Straight Bridge, potentially testing Russia’s air defense systems protecting the bridge.
The assault on Avdiivka have lessened, but Russia is concentrating all their efforts on taking a coal factory north of the town.

Russia controls the skies because Ukraine does not have enough air defense systems. Once the allies help solve this problem, the counteroffensive will go much faster.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with NBC News, Censor.NET reports.
“We don’t have enough air defense systems, so Russia controls the sky. What will happen when we have enough air defense systems from our partners? Our troops will leave. No, they will run forward, and this (counter-offensive - Ed.) will go faster. Because we cannot use our people as meat, as the Russians do,” he said.
Zelensky added that as long as the Russians control the sky and Ukraine does not have enough defense, the Armed Forces cannot move forward quickly.

“Our No. 1 request to our partners is to balance our forces in the sky. We have to wait a long time for F-16s because of training and so on, and air defense is a quicker solution.

Russia launched another failed attack, this time on Vuhledar. Footage of the battle was captured by Ukraine’s 72nd Brigade. It shows columns of armored vehicles and tanks attacking. Which are quickly destroyed by Ukrainian artillery and missiles.
In total, Russia is thought to have lost 18 vehicles in the assault. Vuhledar is located in Ukraine’s south, 45 miles from Mariupol. Russia tried and failed to seize it last year in a winter offensive. It appears they will try the same tactic again this winter.
