You got me beat by three days!
Hey hey, Congrats!
When I first started FReeping in mid-1997, anyone could post. As FR traffic grew, Jim realized he had to set up a registration process. On 11-28-97, Jim opened up registration. After that, no one could post without registering first.
Yes, it is gut wrenching to have witnessed the hideous transformation that has gripped this nation. As much as I despised the Clinton administration, the 1990s are looking good compared to what we are living through now.
I did this just to see.
I’m sure it’s not as impressive aas most but it has been a game changer.
Happy FR Birthday!
Thank You!

Yes. Auto correct. And I didn’t proofread
I’ve been curious about that date for a while. Thanks for the bit of history.
You’re welcome!
Jeez I feel old.
Seems like just yesterday I was a long haired hippie peace queer who opened for “Steppenwolf” and spent a half hour talking with Betty White on her front yard.
Opened for Steppenwolf huh, very kewl indeed. 🙂
I guess we can say you rock, and its true. 🙂
Betty White, well I'm sure she was a nice lady. I personally wasn't a big fan. But perhaps talking to her might have made me appreciate her more. I'm assuming she was married to Allen Ludden at that time? 🙂
Yes. We were driving through neighborhoods, celebrity gazing, and she was watering her yard. Five long-hairs talked to her for 30 minutes. So nice.
Also ran into Gabe Kaplan (”Welcome Back Kotter”), Lou Rawls, and literally ran OVER Chris McGuin of the “Byrds” in the Record Plant. He came out of a hidden door & I knocked him down. Just missed seeing Clapton, who was recording at a secluded hotel on Pacific Coast Highway. We got there and the room was open with ALL guitars, drums, etc. set up and WARM. His guitar with a pick (”EC”) was in it. But we couldn’t wait, as we had a gig that night. Also the Who sat through our set at the Troubadour. All in my autobiography, “The Rhythm of History.”
Would I know your band name?
