I have my 10 year old daughter in BJJ (Brazilian Ju Jitsu), I am glad she competes against males as I want her to be able to protect herself.

So if the goal is win within age and gender, yup they need to not let males compete. But if the goal is to teach females to protect themselves then I am for it.
