As I go about my business around town and to various parts of the state and the country, everything looks so very different from the America I knew as a kid and young adult. Everywhere I go, people look weird. Girls in their early 20s with bright pink, green, purple or blue hair, have half their heads shaved, or their bangs cut straight across in a “bowl” cut that would have been embarrassingly ugly for even boys to have to wear when I was a kid.

Which is why I don’t think the whole legalize and push kids to smoke grass thing is a great idea.
“Today I saw a guy in his early 20s walking through a parking lot on his way to his car. He had long, dark hair and a full beard. He didn’t appear to be homosexual in any way, but he was wearing two large hoop earrings, blue jeans that were torn to shreds, and an expensive leather jacket.”

Full beards used to be on more grown masculine men.
Today, a full beard is the padded bra for males pretending to be grown masculine men.
Pot is a societal poison. Unless, of course, one thinks the apex of society is a generation living on government handouts, consuming legal drugs, living in mom and dad’s basement, lost in the virtual “reality” of computer games and social media.
“Pot is a societal poison”
Of course it is.
Changed many yoots for the worse. Think of those who accelerated their dying by trying to achieve a greater high...
When I had purple hair, it was still rebellious - in the early 2000’s. When it started catching on, I stopped and went from my natural blonde to a natural mahogany red. I find that when lots of people like something, I tend to dislike it strongly. Rap is a good example, though admittedly I like the occasional Tupac. The man knew how to actually compose.
As a pharma tech, I agree that America has become radically unhealthy. Most of our patients, young and old, are obese. My mom falls into this category, though her eating habits are emotional. Her life is incredibly stressful, and in her sixties, it’s far too late for her to leave her field (elder social work - no, she’s no lefty) and start anew. She and I are making about the same income, and I didn’t get to complete my degree in nursing, and I have no college debt to speak of.
Most of the drugs we dispense are for blood pressure and the heart, anti-depressants, amphetamines for ADHD (when we have them) and anti-anxieties, and now meds intended for diabetics are flying off the shelves if we have them at all. I’m honestly thinking about writing an open letter and seeing if I can get it published, because what I’m seeing is shameful. Meds that could be life-altering for diabetics are being casually prescribed for weight loss, and this is causing a huge shortage.
Sadly, this has all been allowed. Our leaders are so power hungry that they’re willing to accept any degree of insanity so long as it serves their purposes and perpetuates their control.
For what it’s worth, the pot smoking, peace-loving Vietnam protestors are now the decision makers in Washington who made this menagerie possible.
I pray that one day the adults will come home and run the show again.
The current look of youth reminds me of modern art. The ethos behind it is it’s meant to repulse and be ugly. Now this is hardly new. The punks of the 70s had a similar look but in a way it was more like a perpetual Halloween back then and they were the rarity but even today there are still enough normies around so that I don’t feel the complete outsider yet. Maybe to the youths but not my contemporaries.
Vaping. Vaping seducing women....Jr. H thru their 30s.
Marked loss of female reason. Vaping. Addiction substance.
It’s all about, “Look at me! Look at me!” so I just ignore them.
Aposematism
And you should take it seriously!
Who says any of these people are on drugs? One can easily decide to checkout of “main society” without drugs. I’ve known lots of girls with anime hair that don’t do drugs, they’re just into a subculture. And guys with earrings stopped a big deal decades ago. I think this guy is just not used to hanging out with non-mainstream people.
For sixteen years I lived in a bottle.
I never killed anyone in a drunken car accident but I did a lot of other insane like threatening to bash the brains of a girlfriend I was living with holding afire place poker over her had because she hid my case of Bud.
Used to smack her around too and was arrested for two DWIs.
I don’t live that way now, for 33 years life’s been good. One day at a time.
I don’t condone drug or alcohol abuse to excess but responsible drinking and tooting a joint if it doesn’t become a problem isn’t a crime and it’s time this society stop being so arbitrary, hypocritical and capricious in condemnation of weed over alcohol.

Only if they ramble on about IPAs.
LOL! Perfect.
Prior to the 60s, there was nothing like it in American society. Not of those proportions.
The actors and agencies who orchestrated and perpetrated the 60s on us are still at work.
But they’re now on defense.
Youth culture will always be about shocking the elders.
