“What does NATO do again?”
It illegally bombs countries like Serbia and Libya. No big deal. Why do you ask?
6 men go to dinner together. One is very rich, the others middle class to poor, but they are all friends. At the end of the dinner, the 5 less well-off men get together and decide the bill should be split according to the individual’s ability to pay. The poorest pays nothing, the others a fraction of their total bill for their individual dinners. Being a democratic group, the rich man accepts the situation reluctantly.
The group plans on having this dinner together weekly.
The next week, there are only 5. The rich man decided he didn’t need to subsidize the dinners for all of the others, so he just stopped coming.
Well they don’t really do anything.
What do they do??
NATO is just a tripwire. The same type that sparked WWI.
It’s an organization that has outlived any good it ever did.

As a young man 50 years ago I read 1984. I found it delightful fiction, little did I know it was a warning. I read it again a couple of years ago. This time it was a chilling comment on reality. George Orwell was truly a Sage before his time.

NATO made sense when it was a US UK partnership to dominate Western Europe.
The UK is too weak to be much of a partner. Now they are out of the EU so then have no influence there.
Time to get out.
