Uncovering My Absolute Favorite Discovery on Google Earth! [The Trek Planner]
YouTube ^ | September 16, 2023 | The Trek Planner

NOTE: I do not claim to be an expert on anthropology, geology, or archaeology. I am just a hiker who loves to explore and see new things especially the ancient history that is all around us. This is what my channel is about. I hope you stick around and explore with me!

If you do find/visit one of these locations, please visit respectfully. Do not take any artifacts or relics. Do not climb on ruins or dig or disturb the ground. I try my best to hide noticeable landmarks, mountains, and canyons in my videos.

('Civ note: I've watched a number of this guy's vids, or parts of them, over the past year or more, and they're all pretty much the same. Still, he visits a lot of these relatively tiny sites, and probably has the only published pics of most of them.)

I’m glad he’s careful in his explorations, he appears to be alone in a hazardous environment with no one else anywhere for miles.

I watched several of these and at first thought they were pretty cool. But it was frustrating that he wouldn't give the locations, even the general locations or even vague clues (in fact, as he mentions above, he goes out of his way to not give any clue of where he is each time. I understand that he doesn't want the places to be overrun with people.

However, a large part of the enjoyment for me in watching youtube videos is to look up the places myself using google maps, determining if I've been at or near the places, maybe planning trips there (even if I never actually take the trip), etc. Not knowing the location of any of the sites he visits and not being able to look at them on google maps, they soon tended to all seem the same after a while, and I quit watching.

I know the approximate area that’s in, just from the landscape. I’m VERY familiar with it!

Thanks for that!!

But at the end, he says he “going down to get a sandwich.”

Can’t be too far from a ranger station with a snack bar!

The locations all appear to be in Utah, Arizona, New Mexico or Colorado.

I wonder if petroglyphs were considered as graffiti by tribal elders? Did they frown upon the idea? 😃

The convention pic made me laugh.

“You, you must be almost 30 … have you ever kissed a girl?”

Satellite archaeology is a hobby of mine. I have made some amazing discoveries over the years.

It is, but it takes a lot of time to dig through prospective areas a couple hundred yards at a time hours on end. And what really sucks is I can’t find the time or money to do ground research at the sites I find. So I reach out to local entities who might be interested to go check them out. And of course they get the credit for the find. But I don’t mind, it is like hunting for treasure. The satisfaction is just knowing you did actually find something important. :)

He drives a Pontiac, so he stays on decent gravel/dirt roads. Rarely does he hike very far. He’s no expert, just a guy that likes to explore. I enjoy the weekly excursions.

He hikes in country like I grew up in, and I think I’ll have to watch more of him! Thanks for the info on him. :o]
