Tucker Carlson and Pro-Putin Guest Suggest Israel Is Committing ‘War Crimes’ and Mock ‘Moral Victories’

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and his guest, retired Army Col. Douglas Macgregor, scoffed at the idea that the United States was scoring “moral victories” through its assistance of Israel and suggested that the world’s only Jewish-majority state was committing “war crimes” by bombing Gaza during an episode of the former’s show released on Monday.

After a conversation during which the two commentators argued that wiping out Hamas was an unrealistic goal, they said that the U.S. was hurtling toward war with Iran and bizarrely submitted that Turkey and Russia would be eager to join such a conflict on the side of Iran, Carlson adopted a mockingly inquisitive tone.

“But we’ll be, as we become impoverished and chaotic and subject to these terror attacks, we’ll be winning important moral victories, don’t you think?” he asked.

He continued:

This is the problem with collective punishment. This is the problem with annihilating Gaza and trying to sweep out its population. That’s unacceptable to us as Americans. I don’t think if you sat down any of Israel’s most ardent supporters in the United States and said, ‘Are you willing to trade the lives of several hundred thousand people in Gaza for the lives taken in Israel by Hamas?’ After all, Hamas and Palestinian Jihad were the fighters. They lost 1,500, there were 3,000 involved in the several waves of the attack. They’re dead. Now we’re looking at perhaps 5,000 civilians dead. How many more will we witness? Is that somehow or another justified morally?

So @BasedMikeLee retweets Tucker & Douglas Macgregor talking about how Israel is committing “war crimes” employs “collective punishment, [is]annihilating Gaza & trying to sweep out its population,” before equating the lives of Hamas’s sadistic butchers with the people they killed pic.twitter.com/InzHrKb4fM

It’s unclear what Macgregor has that leads him to believe that all of the terrorists involved in planning, preparing for, and carrying out the October 7 attack on Israel are already dead.

At the outset of the Russian war on Ukraine, Macgregor submitted that Russia would win the war within a couple of weeks. He has also spread Russian propaganda by declaring that Vladimir Putin only invaded because Ukrainian military forces were massing at the Russian border and that the Russian leader has taken pains to avoid kill civilians in Ukraine.

As of July, over 9,000 civilians had been killed, and nearly 16,000 had been injured by Russia in Ukraine. The statistics cited by Macgregor about civilian casualties in Gaza come from Hamas.

Carlson and Macgregor join the ranks of far-left commentators and politicians such as Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and Mehdi Hasan in suggesting that Israel has committed war crimes in its defensive war against Hamas.

Almost invariably Carlson aligns with Putin [...]

I agree with your characterization - and lament it simultaneously. Carlson is so right on many topics - but fails miserably on this one. Yes, I get it that it's uncomfortable siding with Biden on this one, but...

Do you have any explanation for Carlson's stridently pro-Russian position? Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this!

Imagine it is 1944 and you had a US radio commentator broadcasting this statement worrying about dead Germans and Japanese's. What would of have been the reaction?

Yeah, I understand what you mean! "How can you, in good conscience, applaud the bombing of Hamburg and Berlin - knowing that most of the bombing victims were not official members of the Nazi Party?"

Unfortunately, that's how wars are fought!

That means nothing. There were many military analysts who got the initial invasion wrong. But what you take as Russia's weakness, was really the fact that Russia misjudged the response. Still doesn't mean that Russia has the upper hand in this conflict.

But the fact of the matter is that the invasion taking place of our country is far more detrimental to the survival of this nation than the outcome of Ukraine.

Your priorities are all messed up.

When you see what happens, perhaps then you will see just how foolish you and the neo-cons promoting our involvement in the Ukraine Russia conflict really are.

We are not the invincible nation you seem to believe we are. we are extremely vulnerable. Pay attention to what is really going on.

Apparently fooling you is your Achilles heel & Ukraine provides the blind spot in addition, preventing you from seeing the reality via the distraction.

This administration doesn't give a rat's ass about you or any of her citizens. enjoy what's coming fool.

Neo-cons, schmeo-cons.

When long-neutral countries like Sweden and Finland are eager to jump into bed with NATO, methinks there is something of a real threat to Europe, a continent I for one am not quick to write off.

It WOULD be weird had I dropped a Mediaite article if it didn’t source the actual interview it comments on. But happily there IS a bloody clip in the Mediaite article. Listen and enjoy.

I think Carlson is not so pro anything but stridently anti US involvement in any wars.

He seems to believe if the US would withdrew from the World, the World would leave the US alone.

The article is the author’s take…the author’s interpretation…on what Carlson said. Nothing more. It carries no weight. One can agree or one can disagree..

There is a big difference between isolationist policy and non-intervention policy. Are you conflating the two?

Being against Russia’s illegal and bloody invasion of Ukraine, and being against Russias proxy Islamic friends attacking Israel is neither a Republican or Democrat foreign policy. It’s about normal and evident common sense!

Indeed!

Nope

You made the claim you back it up.

For example, Carlson has questioned the value of NATO to the US. So that pretty much moves the needle out of non interventionism into isolationism.

The mistake here is to assume isolationism is automatically bad and non interventionism is automatically good.

After 80 years of carrying the World on its back, maybe it time the US voters start asking the questions Carlson is asking.

I not sure I will agree with him but an honest discussion, without all the knee jerk bombast, is worth having.

“If Israel really wanted Hamas destroyed, they can do it.”

Hamas is like the bulbs in your garden. You can clip the top, but they will be back in the spring. I’m sorry you didn’t understand my #43 entry. Hamas is a whole lot more than just Gaza. And they have allies to join them all over the world that have been supplying them and fighting with them from all over the region as we speak. Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen are currently firing on Israel and the US at bases where we station and have injured US citizens along with kidnapped and killed some in the Gaza. So Israel is completely outnumbered and out gunned until it reaches nuclear capacity.

“If they don’t have the will to defeat their evil enemy then they get what they deserve.”

This is a war they can only hope to slow down. They can’t win it and it has been going on for, at least, 3 generations locally and 2000 years in different parts of the world. And with the new assistance to Hamas, Israel can’t just have a will to win. It’s more like a will to survive.

Israel is surrounded to the north by Lebanon, to the northeast by Syria, both are firing upon them, to the east and southeast by Jordan who has strong diplomatic relations with Palestine, to the southwest by Egypt where tunnels were and are still being constructed to move arms, supplies and people into the Gaza, to the south by Saudi that is the home of the Muslim Brotherhood where Hamas came from, and to the west by the Mediterranean Sea. So the only direction that is not either supporting Gaza with arms, relations, equipment, money and people is going to need water wings. And remember, these people in Gaza would like to die rather than give anything up to their religion.

Were you aware that some of the Palestinian women in Gaza were having explosives implanted in their breasts? They are going to die for their beliefs with no possibility of survival. And there are people all over the world like this. Can’t scare it, can’t reason with it, and can’t trust it. So how do you kill something this big, flexible, and supported. You don’t. You try to neutralize it by putting out fires a little at a time. Anything else is suicide. (And possibly the same for the world)
