I noticed the same things (in the second half of the game) that he talks about. I didn't watch the first half, which was apparently even worse. Even someone on CBS said the defensive holding call on Gabe Jeudy-Lally was ticky tack. I don't have a rooting interest in either team. Maybe the SEC is trying to set up an SEC championship between Alabama and Georgia. I'll be interested in seeing if the calls favor Georgia when they play Florida and Missouri.

It’s a pandemic. In the pros it’s even worse. The last two weeks, refs are deciding games right and left. The winner of MVP for the 2023 season should be the refs.

Taking away the TN turnover for a TD was kinda blatant.

Does the expansion of legalized sports gambling feed into this problem?

The refs were calling stuff that CBS could not even show because it didn’t exist.

Oh well, that is “Home field” in Tuscaloosa.

Congratulations. This is the dumbest take ever posted on Free Republic. Any imbecile who believes that Alabama gets the calls is a drooling moron. It’s the opposite.

Last year’s Bama-Viles game was a blatant example of the Viles getting ALL OF THE CALLS. The officials blatantly handed Tennessee that game on a silver platter.

It would behoove you to research the most penalized team in the sec for the last few years. But you won’t, because that would destroy your childish little narrative.

Tennessee, Auburn and LSU OWN the sec office and always have. They get ALL of the calls. FACT.

It’s this example of jealousy and stupidity that encourages me to cheer loudly against every sec team.

Cry harder; The Viles lost.

Unfortunately I couldn’t watch most of the game. But I did see several reviews and thought those were correct.

That said, Bama only got 1 penalty??????? This from the same team that has about 5 negated TD’s due to penalties? RTR, Bama just got their act together (he he he).

Or what was that famous Giants playoff game quote when pass interference wasn’t called?? BUMMER!

It’s just a game. People treat it like it’s some sort of war games going on.

I watched the Texas - Houston game. The announcers were so blatantly biased for Houston it was obvious.

They even said, tongue-in-cheek, that they were objective {snicker} {snicker}.

==

As for biased ref calls, I figure the check cleared.

Houston got hosed on a bad spot late against Texas that cost them a chance to tie the game.

They’re just NOW noticing this. Officials have been in the bag for Alabama for years.

It’s the gambling, obviously.
Since the advent of legalized gambling no sports featuring in-the-moment calls is, or can be, honest. Too much $$. You can watch the calls change with the odds.
The entire “college sports” industry (yes it’s an industry) has become an abomination. The waste is stunning. 100’s of thousands “fans” traveling across the country every weekend. Screaming, fighting, killing, wearing their “colors”. Billions of dollars wasted every weekend. Another once-legitimate institution corrupted by the entertainment moguls. It isn’t sports folks, it’s a show.

Good grief, TN fans are the biggest crybabies. I’m not even going to fully address a certain interception that was mysteriously called back last year for phantom reasons.

In the game Saturday, TN linemen could have been called for holding on almost every pass play, especially the interior linemen. There was also one of the most blatant punches to a player’s head non calls I have ever seen.

The fair catch KO call was the right call. You may not like the rule, but it was correct.

Both sides got away with pass interference at times, and Burton could have had a penalty for kicking a TN player, which would have been enforced on the kickoff, but the refs had to keep their flag in their pocket because of the head punch non call earlier.

All in all, I thought the game was evenly called, with a focus more towards letting the players play.

I watched a good part of that game. Besides the blatant missed calls, I was confused with the “snap infraction”. Didn’t see anything weird except that nobody moved when the ball was snapped. The play starts when the ball is snapped whether the QB is ready or not, correct? And no explanation from the commentators who, by the way, are getting pretty bad across the channels. So, what was the “infraction? Did he double clutch the snap?
