I got a 69 Chevy with a 396. Fuelie heads and a hurst on the floor. She’s waiting tonite down in the parking lot, outside the 7-11 store. Me and my partner Sonny built her straight out of scratch and he rides with me from town to town. We only run for the money, got no strings attached, we shut ‘‘em up and then we shut them down. As much as I despise Springsteen, I gotta admit, he wrote some great songs.

A great song , these are my favorite lyrics. I kind of twist them a bit as motivation for running to stay healthy :
“Some guys they just give up living
And start dying little by little, piece by piece
Some guys come home from work and wash up
And go racin’ in the street”
I too was a big fan. Have an extensive collection, saw him in many different cities. Been on long politically motivated break, and comments by Van Zant may have been the mail of my fandom coffin.
"As much as I despise Springsteen, I gotta admit, he wrote some great songs."
...except that everyone else knew that just putting Fuelie heads on a 396 in a nine-year-old rust bucket sled and bolting a Hurst shifter into a car that originally came with a column shifter wasn't going to beat anyone other than other broke dropouts in dead towns doing the same thing in their Chevelles or Novas they jammed a used 350 into.
Been there, saw that. It was like religion to mullet heads in dying areas of the country who had no future to aspire to.
Having Springsteen sing their hymns back to them only kept them in that state of mind, when they really needed someone to come along and tell them to snap out of it and quit celebrating decay and failure.
Most of his music sounds like he is chronically constipated.
“Novas they jammed a used 350 into.”
Hey, I had a 73 Nova with a stock 350.
Lots of speed.120 on the interstate .
I turned out ok!
The older the singers are, the worse they sing and the louder the music is to cover for them. The next Rolling Stones come back tours should be an ear splitter.
I’m glad you survived your mulletude affliction. Ha Ha
I’m looking kind of dumb. I was tired and my leg hurt. And there was the Monk (cat). He’s pretty cool, named him after Thelonious. He’s a good kid, he just enjoys tripping me up..
Very funny thx 😉
It’s not pollitical to think he sucks , everyone has their own taste , good or bad
Can’t stand him....never could...

Same here! However, I did see him ONCE where he was good.
Had a video tape of a HBO special “A Black and White Night”. Roy Orbison, his band and lots of other stars; KD Lang, Bonnie Raitt, etc., just singing backup. Included to play guitar was a young Springsteen. He and Orbison did a guitar duel during “Sweet Dreaming Baby” that was great.
His music does suck! Just yelling, screaming and being loud does not make music good.
Wait I’m on metoprolol succinate, not lorazopam. My doc takes the same, warned me about farts. We are the same age.
Had a 77 Camaro with a Tennessee Racing engine when I was 16. Stage 2 Competion cam. Ate Ford 5.0s for breakfast. Raced a vetted down i20 from cedar hill to lake Arlington. We went well over 130 according to the vette owner. I was pegged at 120.
DITTO!
The landing was much too soft for my liking.
Still hilarious every time I see it
