I know a total vanity, but a priest died in 2006 in my parish and seeing his wake, his open coffin, had his shoes promiently displayed.
The only wake priest's I ever attended, and my dad said, look that his shoes, would be prominent in his coffin.
Looked like Buster Brown shoes.
Mods pull
He won’t be needing them any more. He walked the straight and narrow..............
Probably looks more dignified than bare feet sticking out there.
Same reason Blessed Mother is always barefoot?
WHO CARES??? THE DEAD DECEITFUL ONE SURE DOESN’T CARE WHAT SHOES HE HAS ON HIS DEAD FEET.
You never know if suddenly they may get up and walk around...
My father, mother and grandmother were dressed in their “Sunday best” when they went to their final reward.
Why wouldn’t a priest?
That's why if you look close the shoelaces are tied together. That way it's both terrifying and hilarious at the same time...
He is, for lack of a better term: “in uniform”.
I’m guessing the deceased would also be wearing his clerical collar. That is how most people see a man of the cloth to look like. That visage was his earthly persona. He is sent en route to the hereafter with that image intact, out of respect for The Order.
Egyptian Pharaohes were buried in full regalia, with head dress, bejewled, beringed and berobed in the finest of available fabrics, all out of respect for the order, or that man’s station in his earthly life.
It was to save his soles,,,,
LOL!
Is that kind of comment really needed?
Yes. Every open casket for a male I’ve seen, the corpse was wearing a suit and tie. It would be kind of jarring to see bare feet with that...
Nope. It’s just a bonus.
It’s insulting to a lot of people here.
But it’s obvious that you don’t care.
What would you expect them to wear on their feet?
For that matter, why do they wear clothes at all? It’s not like they’re going to need them...
It's a Free Republic...
(When was the last time any of us heard someone say "It's a free country"? Was that even in this century?)
I’ve never asked to have anything pulled.
It IS a ‘free country’, but I don’t think that was ever meant to excuse someone from indiscriminately insulting thousands of people they never met. Do you walk around your neighborhood doing that?
If so, you must be a pariah where you live, and I wouldn’t want you as a neighbor.
