Behind the Curtain: Rattled U.S. government fears wars could spread
Axios ^

Never before have we talked to so many top government officials who, in private, are so worried about so many overseas conflicts at once.

Why it matters: We don't like to sound dire. But to sound a siren of clinical, clear-eyed realism: U.S. officials say this confluence of crises poses epic concern and historic danger.

(snip)

Former top intelligence officials tell us domestic unrest is one of their biggest fears β€” whether it's triggered by court rulings against former President Trump or protests over war in the Middle East.

(snip)

But there has been a total collapse of people's trust in the opposing party, the media, what they see or share on social platforms, and even the top-secret intelligence the government relies on to measure these threats.

All stemming from how they conducted the Afghanistan withdrawal, the worst foreign policy disaster in American history. Chickens now coming home to roost.

The biggest thing we the People need to be upfront with and against:

Top intelligence officials

They’re not even part of the Founding Father’s vision documented in our Constitution, and actually violate many of the rights acknowledged there.

I find it disgusting that each one these people took an oath to this Constitution they treat like garbage. Oath breakers.

Federal government employees β€œfeel” that they have the answers to our nation’s foreign and domestic issues.

This causes them to meddle in issues they have no business meddling in.

This brings about THE LAW OF UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES.

Their small meddling can cause big problems in other areas.

Federal government employees need to just do their job and β€œstay in their lane”.

They don’t know the answers to every question.

How does it feel?

It feels like you're very young - and in the rush of a crowd - you're separated from your parents.

You're calling out for your parents and some thug has grabbed your arm, he tells you to shut up or he'll hurt you - - as he's pulling you out toward the parking lot and away from your family.

That's it. That's how it feels to live in a totalitarian police state.

A police state where the thugs and goons of the FBI, DOJ, and Homeland want to hurt you and your loved ones and your children. They lie about you and tell you to shut up. And now they're concerned others will noticed you're being pulled into a bad place... and they don't want to get caught. They fear they can't lie their way out of this - or do enough focus groups to 'find' the words that will 'work' to make it OK. So they say, 'this child hung onto me I was innocent, don't believe him... he should be punished.

We didn't start any of these wars. The current regime's projection of fecklessness and weakness did.

Iran has been a supporter of terror ever since the Dems (Carter) let the Shah fall. There's no reason for them not to act since the Biden regime has been kissing their butts since day one and transferred billions to them and dropped sanctions.

The debacle in Afghanistan showed Putin that the current regime here is incompetent beyond belief and ideologically driven to weaken America. Coupled with the "flexibility" Obama's regime offered after the 2014 invasion (and many of them are back in power), there was no compelling reason for Putin not to invade Ukraine. Remember the Biden regime was willing to write-off Ukraine and offer Zelensky a ride out. Only their resistance embarrassed them enough to provide grudging support.

Even though Trump wanted US forces out of the ME when Wagner units threatened US forces in Syria he had the US military grease 300+ Russian mercs. Trump would have maintained tough sanctions on Iran and Putin would never have dared to attack Ukraine if Trump hadn't been forced from office by a fraudulent election.

Bull feces.

The Ukraine proxy war was completely started by the United States.

We are no longer the good guys, if we ever were.

The people have zero trust in ANY institution.

Because they are completely corrupt. Each and every one.

They have only themselves to blame.

To argue that we "provoked" Russia means you simply agree that Ukraine somehow "belongs" to Russia. Apart from Russian force, there's no argument supporting that position. In terms of length of control, most of Ukraine was under control by Poland-Lithuania at least as long or longer than by Russia. That's why the Ukrainians are not Russians. And Vlad has performed the alchemical magic of transforming millions of Russian speakers into Ukrainians.

Russia has always been a looting empire: it's elites feast on the countries they conquer and its cretinous inhabitants feel better about their own wretched condition as long as they get to brutalize their neighbors.

It's been that way for 500 years. Russia is simply returning to its mean.

As far as the US goes the position of the US has been to oppose great powers ingesting their neighbors since WWII because such "sphere of influence" games led to two world wars. Men were hanged at Nuremberg for pursuing aggressive war as Putin has done.

It’s uncanny how anyone disagreeing withe neo-isolationist nincompoopery so often pushed on FR always winds up with ad hominem argument. Because you don’t have a real argument to make, you just whine like children.

LOL I cited 500+ years of history. You people are just like Jane Fonda— you hate the US so much you blame it for everything and make common cause with its foreign enemies to score domestic political points.

You’re one of those psychos who believe the government is the country.

The people are the country, not the government.

18 months ago I jumped from the big city in Central FL (where I had lived for 35+ years) to a small, rural town in NW Tennessee. It’s not necessarily my last jump, but I’ve been quite pleased with the results. Of course they can come for us anywhere in the form of taxes, inflation and regulation, but so far I’m not feeling it like the city slickers are.
