Why is this important?
A pro-abortion coalition is bringing a Constitutional Amendment to Ohio, which, for the first time in American history, attempts to create a new human right called the right to "reproductive decisions." The legal construction of this Amendment is lengthy, yet it lacks a section where the new terms are thoroughly defined. This has created a significant number of questions for Ohio voters.
It is essential that all Ohio voters have the opportunity to fully review and understand the ramifications of this Amendment. The Ohio Constitution is the controlling legal authority over all forms of state and local law. The Ohio General Assembly cannot pass a bill that alters or bypasses the words of the Constitution. So the accurate meaning of every word of this proposed Amendment truly matters. If passed by the voters, the words of this Amendment will be binding upon all the people living in Ohio.
The actual language of the full Amendment is presented above. A second version is presented including questions based upon research regarding the legal ramifications of the language. This research was conducted by the staff of the American Policy Roundtable, a non-profit, non-partisan organization founded in Ohio in 1980.
VOTE NO OHIO
Thanks for the heads up
Sadly this issue is not “the talk of the town” around here.
They’ve dropped this into an off-year election where too many voters just yawn if anyone mentions voting at all. Same trick our school district uses when they want to sneak another millage past us.
On my own ballot I’ve got three county offices where incumbents are running unopposed, plus this child-murder amendment, plus one to legalize marijuana.
There’s one radical Dem household in the village that can be counted on to plaster their yard with “Yes on 1” signs, and they have. On my drive to the supermarket, where I’d see a dozen Trump signs, just ONE “No on 1” yard sign so far.
No ads in the local paper from either side.
Not looking good.
I’ll vote NO early, because with my handicaps I can’t stand in a line. I hope it’ll be counted.
Praying this bill is defeated
This is exactly how they got Michigan. Ignore ignore in most towns but except colleges.
Spent millions in city and among university students.
The Gop needs to
have a Bill like Parents Rights at schools on the 2024 ballot to counter this one .
Play smart for a change .
I’ve been trying to explain what the vague language could lead to. Parental rights (including as it pertains to trans children down the road) needs clarified. This amendment is a monster.
Right and I think, if enacted, would be irreversible. Is that correct?
It’s an Ohio Constitutional Amendment with broad interpretation. It would be an uphill battle to change because of the incorrect term usage “reproductive rights”. Common sense looses out to Hegelian dialect
Lord God, we thank You that You are the ultimate Judge. We know that You are perfect in Truth. We pray over our judges, voters and lawmakers in the midst of making life-changing decisions. Please guide them with Your leadership. We ask that those who know You would be led by Your Spirit and those who do not know you to see Your great Love and Sacrifice for them and receive Your gift of Salvation. We ask that voters and lawmakers would be honest, courageous, loving, kind and true. Help them to have noble character and be dependable in matters of Life.
In the mighty NAME OF JESUS we pray, amen.
They can just call it the Hamas birth.
Ohio Issue 1 will fail if turnout among white male Republicans in rural areas exceeds expectations, and other groups under perform with their turnout.
A lot of other crap gets mixed in with these proposed legislative changes and it's only meant to confuse and mislead voters.
I'm all for ...’ one bill, one proposal'.
Since it takes two to reproduce, will the sperm provider now have a say one way or the other, or will equal protection not apply?
