I got the author straight off, but the rest of it makes little sense to my morning mind.
Me too. If it’s saying that missing someone you adored just because they died is wrong... I’m not onboard with this notion.
If he was saying that, then I totally agree with you. But perhaps he is not meaning “dying”, but rather just “parting”.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
If you’re trying to make the puzzle make sense today - it doesn’t. Just a lot of words. Hope that helps.
The poem has nothing to do with death. (My choice of hint may have been confusing.) The author is going on a journey abroad, (probably to France) and saying goodbye to his lady, with the understanding that he will return to her. Though in those days, that was less certain, and communication sketchy at best.
I am, unfortunately more familiar with the poem, and the poet, than this audience apparently. It is considered one of the finest poems in the English language.
I have always loved that poem. It’s about separation and heartache.
This one fell together pretty easily, but the language is odd.
