Of course Jeopardy! is going to be #1.

My favorite is "Press Your Luck"

The Newlyweds game was always fun. I suspect more than a few marriages ended because of that show.

I always liked “What’s My Line?” John Charles Daly, Bennett Cerf, Dorothy Kilgallen, Arlene Francis. A classy show.

‘Wheel of FISH’ was Weird Al’s way of Slapping Seinfeld with a ‘Box of Nothing!’

These were my favorites that are probably not on the list (not bothering to look):

It Pays to be Ignorant
The $1.98 Beauty Pageant

And, of course, the greatest of all time - The Gong Show.

Solid list. There are some that I liked that didn’t make the list, but the authors went far enough back to get all the ones that should be there.

One of my favorite hosts was Art James, and two of his that did NOT make the list were “Pay Cards” (I had the home edition) and “The Magnificent Marble Machine”. I would race home for lunch from elementary school to catch 20 minutes to see the giant pinball machine.

“Split Second” should have made the list. The closing gimmick of putting the key in the car (you win the car if it starts) was great. Tom Kennedy (”You Don’t Say”, “Name That Tune”) was always a likable and skilled MC.

I would have liked to see at least one Bill Cullen show on there. I don’t count “(The $25,000) Pyramid” because that was Dick Clark’s show. That would be like counting Dennis James for “Price is Right” or “Gary Owens” for “The Gong Show”. Similarly, “Joker’s Wild” belongs to Jack Barry.

I grew up with “Eye Guess” (also had the home edition. I was a weird six year old. I went from Romper Room and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to game show home editions and a short wave radio.)

Not much of a game, but the most memorable opening was “Whew!”

I prefer my Jeopardy! with Art Fleming . . . a more stately presence.

I am glad that “$1.98 Beauty Contest”, “The Diamond Head Game” and “The Better Sex” did NOT make the list. Good calls.

I am not sure why “Gambit!” made it and “Jackpot!” didn’t.

Alex Trebek (with Ruta Lee) made the list with High Rollers, but Alex missed with “The Wizard of Odds”

GREAT CALL on “The Don Adams’ Screen Test”. I can’t even find that one on You Tube. WAY ahead of its time.

This is a fun list. As a kid in the 70s, I remade several game shows for my sibs. My mom had a ton of gift boxes in a storage room. So “Treasure Hunt” was born in my bedroom.

As a kid with no AC, we had box fans in our bedroom windows. A screwdriver, a circle cut out of drywall, some paneling nails and paper triangles birthed a fully electronic “wheel” of fortune for my little sisters and brothers.

And who DIDNT cut manila folders into rectangles, write prizes on some (1c, 5c, 10c, grand prize 25c), and melt crayon over them to make, sell (and profit), from instant “scratch-offs”.

Canada had a long running equivalent to wheel of fortune, called Definition. It was the same idea, but there was no wheel and much less flash.
