I want to check the temperature of the room here...
I'm seeing a LOT of conservatives on social media saying the war in the Middle East is not our problem.
As an anti-war conservative I completely agree however it's surprising to see this sentiment among so many mainstream conservatives?!
We're used to being in the minority on these issues.
While supportive of Israel and absolutely condemning the horrific attacks and hostage taking that we've witnessed it appears many Americans are sick and tired of the foreign interventions.
Only the Neocons on social media are demanding U.S involvement.
In fact I posted one yesterday:-
Nikki Haley: This is not just an attack on Israel — this was an attack on America
Have I got this right? What are your thoughts...
You mean like you did, but missed and hit you brain?
Jefferson’s war against the Barbary pirates was America’s first foreign war—if you don’t count the 1775 invasion of Canada (but that was before the Declaration of Independence).
it seems you have a non-answer for everything
Putin must be paying piece-rate
There’s more than one if you recall the context of the parable.
The priest and Levite had the law on their side. They both had a reason to walk by, as touching a stranger who could be dead would’ve rendered him unclean for a week (see Leviticus). But the Law also allowed for exceptions, and a way to get clean again. So the avoidance of the likely inconvenience was unnecessary.
If the Levite was following his priest he’d have correctly surmised that if a priest couldn’t risk it, neither should he.
The Samaritan was a marginalised figure more likely to be presented as the bad guy in a story. But he wasn’t constrained by the barrack room lawyering of the priest.
He was free to look at the need to intervene, then accepted the inconvenience and took the financial hit. Because it was the right thing to do, and sod the rules.
“Go and Do likewise”, said Jesus.
This is the same lesson implied by the two points Jesus makes back to back (the example set by David, and tending to a trapped sheep on the Sabbath) In Matthew 12.
In other words, the choice of protecting the innocent and saving people from starving rather than obsessing about the legality of it is a test of compassion and is far more important than one’s ability to stick to the rulebook.
I understand.
A majority still believe it.
Thanks for the explanation!👍
I don’t buy that. No one gives a ceap about the SOTH.
“Whh hoo”, says Hamas, “Kevin McCarthy is gone, let’s kill Jews”.
No.
Ukraine is a wag the dog money grift.
48 hours and we get non stop video of a real war in Israel. Over a year and all we get from Ukraine is 1/1000th of that.
Instead it’s 60 minutes glowing reports from Keiv.
Israelis can handle their own business. I can condemn Muzzies at every turn. I feel they way about them, that they feel about Christians, Jews and fags. I think they should be eradicated from the Earth, BUT the Jews can handle them, or not. If I had a son or a daughter, I would advise them to not join the military of the US. If drafted for a war overseas, I would advise them to go to Canada.
I grew up with Arabs. Israel needs to rub out Gaza.
I worked for a Muslim, he knew I was Roman Catholic, an “Infidel”, we did not get along at all.
Abrahamics, buddhists, daoists, shintoists, confucians, ba’hai, all require commitment.
Oddly, most of any ‘title” connected within the New Age umbrage, leave the commitment to themselves who practice any of the multitudes of choices. They have no “bigger bible than thou” sort of thing.
I meant to YESHUA alone. Truth is found in him.
You’re right. I think it’s better to show mercy and be helpful than to be a law abiding hypocrite. Not always easy to do in the moment, but it’s the right thing to do.
Still don't want to play your game. "Judge and jury" stirred into a "Cathy Newman" cocktail of "so what you're saying is...." AND now a soupçon of "Putin." That's just so....
...limp.
We can’t have every conflict in the world be our problem .
But we also can’t ignore every conflict in the world .
This sickening attack against Israel does fit into what we need to care about .
Endless foreign wars to distract the public from endless domestic problems, both created by the same politicians.
It is a curious thing. Every group of people that hold to an intangible belief consider their’s to be the truth, and all others as mythology.
It is also a curiosity that, too, those that hold to that same intangibility, call the gods of those ‘defined mythologies’, as demons.
Upon further review:
I had Posted the same thing on 2 different Threads and on 1 it was Post 10 & the other Post 11. On My “pings” selection on the Top Link List of the Latest Articles Page when I selected it, those 2 different Articles were one then the other. So that’s what confused My mind that had been awake for going on 2 days due to situation going on at that time but not connected to FR.
Meanwhile, here we both are up in the middle of the night. ☹️
Yup
