Texas A&M has a good shot vs Alabama
Kentucky might keep up with Georgia for a half
Vandy, who knows
Bama has a bunch of youngsters with great attitudes. Going nowhere but fun.
Georgia is apparently a beloved team. They can win every game forever and a million straight titles and nobody hates them.
I do hate their governor.
Tonight’s Nebraska-Illinois game has potential BiG Ten Championship tie breaker implications for PSU, tOSU and scUM.
Oklahoma is under-appreciated, and while Texas is knocking on the door, I see them as a year away from contending. This will be a great game with a whole lot on the line.
This is Southern Cal’s last chance (v. Arizona) to raise its defensive play — a few notches will be needed — before it faces off next weekend v. Notre Dame. There is urgency to win now, b/c they lose their generational QB at the end of the season. This will be a fun one to watch.
I look for Alabama to beat TAMU convincingly on the road, and to begin finally (though too late for the CFP) coming together.
Georgia is beatable, though likely not by a decent Kentucky team. Its cream puff schedule has some possibility for a knock off during the regular season.
Beyond Oklahoma, I don’t see much potential this weekend for outright upsets. But I do think this is an important weekend for teams either to step up a full notch or two or to settle in with the weaknesses they each have.
Perhaps because of the NIL, though I also think relentless year-over-year improvement in the coaching and recruiting ranks, there is more parity in CF than in any prior year.
Just my take.
Go Jayhawks. Go Dawgs!
Agreed. The transfer portal plays a role too.
Go, Trojans! Kick the kitties!
I also think thr NIL has improved college football. Outstanding players who don’t get a chance or are beat out by another player on one team can have great success at another.
Poster child for this is Jalen Hurts, who went to Oklahoma. He is off to a great start in his NFL career. There are many others. The QBs at Oregon and Washington are two more great examples.
ILL looked terrible last night. Bielema is a proven clown and won’t right that ship.
Yeah, they looked terrible. I don’t understand why they retread loser coaches in sports. Some get job after job and each time their contracts increase.
MD/Tosu is going to be interesting. MD has been working towards an upset like his for the past few years. Is today the day?
If they do pull it off, it just makes the B1G East even stronger. I read that there are 3 teams in the country giving up less than 10 ppg. PSU, UM, and tOSU.
I’ve watched a few UMD games this season, actually probably every one if PSU wasn’t playing at the same time. They haven’t faced a very strong defense. tOSU will make them one dimensional and force Tagovailoa to throw the ball. That may sound like the wrong thing to do except tOSU will shut down the run and pressure Tagovailoa on passing downs using only their D-line. I think between tOSU’s pressure and confusing defensive looks that Tagovailoa will be rendered ineffective. tOSU linebackers are going to be free to dominate UMD’s receivers.
I may be wrong. I have a bias of contempt for Maryland based on a lifetime of Penn State dominating them. I admit that Maryland is improved this year, but they simply don’t have the same depth that the big three in the east have.
Maryland had Tosu on the ropes in College Park last season. They are better this year and Tosu may be a little worse (better defensively though).
I really like the +17
My buddy and I HAMMERED the MD +4.5 1st quarter line (at my urging). I’m going to keep betting MD, and I think they win outright. Already a fun day.
I also think PSU is going to humiliate OSU in 2 weeks.
I think I got this one wrong. We’ll see.
OU WINS!
How far do you think Texas will fall and OU will gain in the polls?
