In a Jay Leno's Garage EXCLUSIVE, Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen and Tesla's Senior Manager of Semi-Truck Engineering Dan Priestley bring Tesla's new Semi-Truck by the garage.
Fortunately, they only had to haul it two blocks.
This is a great video. Jay is funny as always and asks really intelligent questions. Definitely worth watching.
I see semi trucks carrying semi trucks across country in 3-4 days. Of course they use fuel from the source, diesel.
Never could stand Jay Leno. He can drive his car off a cliff for all I care.
I met Jay a few years back through my buddy Tony Buzbee, Jay is a very nice person who is as funny in person as he is in the media.
fortunately they were towing another tesla semi to double their chances of making to their destination on time.
I wanted to hear Leno blast the auto igniting Taslas & EV’s. Guess not. Disappointing. Leno looks tired.
Jay seems like a nice guy, even if he is a Lefty, he largely keeps that to himself (that I am aware of-I don’t watch television or follow him, just my impression.)
I didn’t watch the whole thing, but what I did watch, they spent minimal time talking about the 500 mile range on straight and level ground at the optimal environmental conditions.
They spent far more time on how nice the driving experience was, how much easier it was to handle, how less fatiguing to the driver it was, and so on.
I am all onboard for those things, since the classic truck envionment is likely a cramped, hot/cold, noisy and fatiguing one. I suspect certain mechanical types of issues may be improved as well.
But all in all, this was a sales pitch video, the way all sales pitch videos are. They don’t show you reality. They show you what they want you to see.
I’m not buying it. But I’ll bet it might be great if you are doing 100 mile runs.
It looked to me like they connected a power input from the towed truck to the hauling truck.
The smoke detector went off.
Yeah, Jay’s a coward. ALL those years he sat and chatted with simpleton liberals without ever even slightly alluding to his now supposed conservative leanings?
He gets off the TV stage then he wants to make people believe he’s somehow a conservative. What a joke.
Again, people like Leno are phony’s and cowards.
How big of a gas generator do you need to keep that semi charged?
How come they never discuss the U.S. power grid capacity?
Put a million more trucks and passenger vehicles on the road, it’s going to choke off the power grid.
So, you applaud liberal actors for pushing their politics? They’re not cowards, right?
Or maybe actors should just entertain and stay out of politics. I like Leno for not making it a central part of his hosting, unlike the current screeching denizens of late night TV.
Leno was in a position to give a little gentle push-back against ignorant liberal policies. But he glossed right passed any of that to yuck it up with America’s haters and enemies.
I never thought his jokes were very funny either.
I don’t think he’s very political at all.
His wife is, so he’s not going to go after the left, even if he wanted to (which probably doesn’t).
That is the thing that concerns me the most. They DON’T discuss it, at least not that I have heard.
They subscribe to the “Build the electric vehicles and the infrastructure will come” view.
That is fine and dandy when discussing something like a baseball field that doesn’t exist, the kind of fantasy Leftists just love.
But when they talk about mandating electric vehicles in under a decade, without anything more than unicorn farts to power them, well...in a normal healthy world, they would be laughed at and ridiculed.
But they seem to be successfully pushing ahead with this insanity regardless, which makes me realize it isn’t a desire for clean air or even a Leftist oversight, but fully desired reductions in economic activity, vehicles on the road, personal property, and, ultimately, Freedom.
