The most unstoppable play in the NFL was on full display under the bright lights Monday night.
When the Philadelphia Eagles need a yard, they often resort to the “tush push.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts lines up under center with two or three players behind him. He takes the snap, the offensive line surges forward and Hurts gets a big push from behind. It almost always works. Even when it doesn’t, the Eagles do it again.

When did this become legal? It's still illegal in college. It's still illegal on special teams, in an attempt to block a kick.

It's like Harvard's old, "Flying Wedge' play.

They got rid of the rules a few years ago. Though honestly they largely stopped calling it long before then. It was always kind of a silly rule because you’re allowed to push the pile but not the ball carrier. Of course once you get in those scrums where is the pile and where is the ball carrier and how do you actually enforce it? So really getting rid of the rule was just admitting the truth.

Then why aren’t special teams players allowed to push their teammates. I’ve seen that called as a penalty.

I’ve actually been enjoying watching the Rugby World Cup.

They can push their teammates. They can’t push OFF OF players (their team or opposing) to get airborne. Mostly because a player being shoved down like that (Newton’s Laws) is going to wind up trampled.

So it’s the Flying Wedge all over again?
I suggest the other team use the “Junk in the Trunk” or “Turd in the Punchbowl” formation.

Philadelphia is Greek for the city of brotherly love. So, the "brotherly shove" is the preferred nomenclature for Philadelphians.

Tush Push......sounds like the flip side song of Billy Cyrus’s achey breaky.....circa 80s I think. Bush league play.....outlaw it.
