Innocent people are being hunted like prey in Chicago: Democrat city leader
Fox News ^ | 10/01/23 | Maria Lencki

A Democratic leader in Chicago is decrying the city’s response to crime, saying innocent people are being "hunted down like prey."

Democratic Chicago alderman Raymond Lopez told "America Reports" on Tuesday that "things like robbery, burglary, arson, assault, even threatening elected officials like myself, do not warrant you being held on bond anymore in the state of Illinois, and criminals are taking note,"

"They become emboldened, and the deafening cry is not heard by the politicians demanding change. They only sit back as you saw, and try to stick to the script, even when the public refuses to participate."

Lopez told FOX News that voters are noticing that when they elect "socialists or ultra progressives" they wind up with "a tone-deaf leadership."

"Common sense requires us to start standing up and pushing back on the criminality in our neighborhoods, to start holding people and parents accountable, because oftentimes these are 12, 13, 14-year-olds who are engaging in this behavior, such as the armed carjacking that is so rampant in the city of Chicago," Lopez said.

"It's unfortunate was we saw today where the Judiciary Committee came to Chicago that not one single Democrat chose to participate and make their voices heard or to hear from those most impacted."

The alderman said while citizens are "voting with their feet," some do not have the option to move from the crime-filled city.

"We...have nearly two thirds of our city who cannot do that, who must stay here and they are the victims of the violence that we see so often in particularly Black and Brown communities," he explained.

Residents bound to the city "have had enough" of not being acknowledged, Lopez told FOX News.

"They are often talked about for the progressive agenda, for the extreme liberal agenda that says they care,"...

I've been binging on the Showtime series Chi lately.

The show "Boss" gave viewers insight to the truth about how the democRAT political machine operates in Chicago. No doubt Farhad Safinia and the Starz network were pressured by democRAT heavies to shut it down, leaving the audience hanging at the end of season. Tubi has been running the 2 seasons of the show.

This isn’t all that new. Back in the mid-’90s, I and a few guys I worked with went to the boat races on Lake Michigan one weekend. Our company was a partial sponsor of a boat. A young guy with us had never been to Chicago. I told him you will see; A bar fight, an armed police action, and an abduction/kidnapping this weekend. He laughed, no way. Before the weekend was up, he saw all three.

Was in a Golden corral for a family gathering and it was pretty packed. 95% Mexican/Hispanic. Even the staff. Strange feeling to be a minority and feel like you don’t belong in the country you’ve always called home. A nation your ancestors helped found. Trying to think positive, it’s good to see families with children and none of them on electronic devices.

Who else? A Republican? There hasn’t been a legitimate Republican Mayoral Candidate in a Chicago election in over 4 decades. The city and county are a corrupt, one-party totalitarian, union operation. It will implode and die before a Republican is ever elected mayor again. The last Republican mayor of Chicago ended his term in 1931. Almost 100 years ago. May the parasitic ridden corpse of a once great city float into Lake Michigan and sink. It’s going the way of Detroit.

*************

A few weeks ago I was talking with a hispanic guy who owns a landscape company. His son was part of the work crew and the father proudly said he was also going to school (this was on a school holiday). I have a hard time imagining an American kid doing any kind of physical yard work, much less take out the trash cans or pick up the mail. So to your point, some of the immigrants do seem to have what used to be an American work ethic.

Yep, Democrats are doing a fantastic job of killing off the Rust Belt big cities (and non-Rust Belt, too). Seems like there would be some campaign fodder there, but you don't hear a peep out of the GOP on this subject.

I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia where it is still quiet and safe. Just twenty minutes south is a crime infested hell-hole.

Ten years ago some geniuses came up with the idea of converting abandoned commuter rail lines to trails - called “Rails to Trails”. I assume this happened in other cities as well, since so many commuters switched to driving back in the 1960s, which led to numerous commuter rail lines being shut down.

Now you have all these beautifully maintained trails connecting the suburbs to the inner cities. My question is this:

How long before the inner city criminal class gets the idea of using these trails to raid the suburbs?

I’ve been asking my neighbors that question for years and all I get is a blank stare - they usually just say how much they love the trails.

There may be security points along the trails - but I doubt it.

"I use to think “Escape from New York” was
just an action movie.

Now I am starting to think it is prophetic."

Escape from New York.
Escape from Baltimore.
Escape from Philidelphia.
Escape from Chicago.
Escape from Atlanta.
Escape from Los Angeles.
Escape from San Francisco.
Escape from Washington DC.
Escape from Portland, OR.
Escape from Seattle.
Escape from Newark, NJ.
Escape from New Orleans.

Just about every city in America ruined.

We have some rails to trails bike trails here in Idaho, but they mostly go to, from, and through sparsely populated rural areas. They’re great places to go if you don’t want to see people.

Alderman says:

“some do not have the option to move from the crime-filled city.”

The way to move is to move—and stop making excuses why they can’t move.

Even homeless people manage to move.

Everybody should move out of Chicago—and then whine about how tough it was to move at their new destination.

"even threatening elected officials like myself

Killing the peons was OK, but now the uncrossable line has been crossed."

I noticed that as well. As long as the crime isn't effecting the elite, then there isn't a serious problem. But once the politicians feel in danger, something must be done!

There could be issues for sure—but most crime is not well planned—it is attacking targets of opportunity—since most criminals have short attention spans and low impulse control.

If you live in a neighborhood with lots of criminals the odds of you being a victim of future crime is hundreds or even thousands of times greater than folks who live several miles outside those areas.

the headline is accurate, because they are prey. The people haven’t figured out that leftist ideology is basically satanic. It is a religion with predictable consequences.

Not long. Bus routes have destroyed many, many areas. Once the ferals can get somewhere easily, that area is doomed. Will probably take longer with 'trails', because ferals aren't interested in walking. They might steal e-bikes and make use of those though.

"Innocent people are being hunted like prey in Chicago"

If they're being hunted, they're not like prey, you pinhead, they are prey.

prey
prā, noun
1. An animal hunted or caught by another for food.
2. The collection of animals typically hunted and eaten by a predator.
3. An object or victim of attack.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this bullshit only stops when the people of Chicago arm up and start shooting the bastards that are causing all of this crime.
