After being lobotomized in 1941 at 23 years old, Rosemary Kennedy would spend the rest of her life institutionalized and isolated from her family.

Joe jr. dying in WWII, Kick dying in a plane crash, JFK assanation, RFK also, Mary Jo Koepechne dying in Teddy's Oldsmobile.
Read on wiki, that the siblings did not know about Rosemary's condition or whereabouts., yeah right.
Mods pull at your discetion.
The headline is ridiculous. She was lobotomized, and it’s unfortunate, but largely they had no idea what they were doing back then. They still aren’t very much farther. But it had nothing to do with JFK’s sucess.
Some of us are aware.
๐ค. It would appear “they” still don’t know what they’re doing.
They knew exactly what they were doing. Removing part of the brain leads to improvement. The only problem she had was she like to have sex, like any good Kennedy male, except the morals of the day deemed her to be a homemaker or political activist, or both.
Well, yes. But they don’t do lobotomies anymore. They do ECT occasionally, but I’ve heard for some people that’s the only thing that works.
Have to agree....long time between events and one had nothing to do with the other so the mods should have pulled it...
You make it sound like they held her down and did it. Medical professionals used that treatment at the time. The doctors told her father it would help.
Iโd rather have a bottle n front of me
God the doctors back then, were barbaric.
Did the Sacklers (Purdue Pharma) do lobotomies?
Berg told Esquire that Arthur did perform lobotomies. And as Holmes reported, the physician was more interested in “repeat customers” instead of the “one-and-done” nature of lobotomy patients, and eventually began looking into psychiatric medications โ much like the show depicts.
It is very sad, but they were missled by Fauci’s idol and mentor.
I cannot understand why this Kennedy does not always trust the science.

All the girls are in love with me
I’m a teenage lobotomy
Slugs and snails are after me
D.D.T. keeps me happy
Now I guess I’ll have to tell ‘em
That I got no cerebellum
Gonna get my Ph.D

True. It came under “standard of care” recommendations. The same as thalidomide and the experimental Covid “vaccine”.
The hypothesis suggested in the article does match the headline, i.e., that old Joe Kennedy was worried that pre-lobotomy Rosemary’s bad behavior (sneaking out of a convent to bars where she’d pick up strange men) would cause a public scandal that would sink his sons’ political careers. None of us are mind-rinders, though, and I doubt that Joe Kennedy ever told anyone that Rosie tramping around was what earned her the lobotomy, so we have no idea if that was truly his motive in approving the procedure. Nonetheless, that accusation does appear in the article, so the headline isn’t random.
*mind-readers
Thanks for posting. I read some of her journals or letters before the procedure. Just a happy young lady, maybe not the brightests, but certainly not worth throwing away. Sad.
As barbaric as that ad seems today, imagine how barbaric we will seem a hundred years from now when people see how we used to routinely mutilate the sex genitals of humans - even children - under the guise of “transgenderism”.
