Eugene Peltola Jr., the late husband of Rep. Mary Peltola of Alaska, was ferrying moose meat and antlers when his plane crashed earlier this month, according to a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board.
Peltola Jr. had flown a group of hunters from Holy Cross, Alaska, to St. Mary's, Alaska, two days before the fatal crash, according to the report. He then returned to help haul moose meat back after a successful hunt, the report said. The fatal Sept. 12 crash was Peltola Jr.'s second meat run of the day, with the first going smoothly and without incident, according to the report.

They are both democrat hypocrites.
The Coca Cola guys from the Frank Smith family out of Atlanta, used to haul in all kinds of trophy hunting kills in the 1990’s , thru Charlotte.
Lions, Rhinos, Giraffe, Gazelles.
Too much weight? I recall from living in Alaska that was a common cause.
Or left the second load for the wolves and bears.
Well, let’s see - the Super Cub (with wheels) will lift about 750-800#. Less with those biga$$ tundra tires. Soooo, 500# meat + 200# pilot doesn’t leave much for “combustible” (as my South American friends call avgas). Avgas weighs about 6# per gallon. Do the math.
Antlers on the struts = no big deal.
A White Hunter that my uncle hunted a with a couple times in Africa went down in a small plane years ago
Uncle didn’t know til later the guy was CIA
War story: When the KC-135s returned from TDY in Alaska the air conditioning “belly bays” were often filled with boxes of king crab. One had to be verrrrry careful when latching the bay doors - one misstep (and a less than smooth touchdown) would send 1,000# of crab spewing all over the runway.
Democrat spouses don’t shop at Costco.
From now on every election year we will hear about the sacrifices she made for the country.
Silence from the PETA crowd, but if he were a Republican....
...and the hubby will continue to vote.
Just goes to show moose can fly. Not for very long but...
Interesting timing.
Doesn’t look like a typical moose hunter
Oddly he could have got away with being a bit over gross weight. Those damn moose antlers were an immense drag on the aircraft. I fly gliders in addition to power. My spoilers are far smaller than those antlers. When I deploy them I can make straight and level flight a 500 feet per minute decent. Pilot error and ignorance killed him.
“Friends used to call us ‘Moose & Squirrel’. It was a private joke.”
We were very popular on those runs in the 70's. Ice cold right off the plane.
