There are also videos from this concert such as Galveston and Wichita Lineman. Great musician and concert.
Our son was a violin student of the Concert Master of the SD Symphony. The video also shows off the near perfect acoustics of the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls.
My father loved Glen Cambell. I associate his music with my childhood. Now that my dad is dead, I can be absolutely reduced to tears by Glen Campbell songs. “Galveston,” particularly.
I remember seeing a documentary about Glen Campbell after he died. Turns out he was very good friends with Alice Cooper. Close enough to go golfing together almost every day. One day “Alice’s” phone rings, and it’s Eddie Van Halen begging for a guitar lesson from Glen. I don’t remember whether it happened or not.
I remember seeing Glen Campbell’s TV show as a kid, but didn’t realize the greatness I was watching.
After a few attempts at playing the guitar, I finally really started learning about twenty years ago.
I am nothing more than a decent rhythm player and don’t really aspire to be anything more than that.
When I listen to Glen Campbell, I realize how blessed my generation was to have such tremendous skill. Glen was almost in a league by himself, but I have to say he’s one of the top 5 or 10 players of my lifetime that I’d care to see in concert.
There are many players with great skill that I appreciate, but their music is not my style and I wouldn’t buy it.
I’d give two sticks of juicy fruit for a studio recording of that same song by that same ensemble.
