Oh, I’m sorry that came out harsh. I thought WSJ labelled it a Christian school.

All of those offer excellent scholarships if your test scores are higher than their average. So many colleges have now gone test optional that only the higher scoring kids send them in increasing their average. Inflated High School GPAs and a nice essay can now get a kid admitted to even an Ivy without really knowing how or why any particular student was accepted. Holistic admissions let’s the quota system continue without evidence.

The theme, best I figured was: Drink lots of beer, kiss as many women you could who said yes when I asked.

My alma mater ranked #16. We've slipped a few places since Covid...

I graduated from there as well. IIRC quite a few years ago it was ranked in the top five party schools.

Civic Center built on a elevated pad site, possible basement to be above the waterline when it rains.

1979, I took a date to Pike Fest at the NG Armory.

She was kinda short so she was on my shoulders the whole night.

I had a bucket of beer, she had hers.

I remember when an unknown named George Strait came through town and we danced to his music on sawdust at the South Plains Fair Grounds.

We (Rodeo Club) hired Reba McEntire for our 1980 (??) rodeo.

Was her last show in her barrel racing outfit.

We hired out a bar for a press conference with her.

She asked where the “press” was.

Told her we did not invite them.

Just Reba and about 20 rodeo club members.

Do not recall if she went to Cold Water after the show like most of the entertainers we hired over the years.

Ah, Cold Water Country. That’s a name I haven’t heard in a while.

We played them in volleyball, and as I recall (starting setter) they blared REO Speedwagon throughout the match.

Back in the 70’s when I was a Tulane student, the university had an arrangement of sorts with the New Orleans police in which errant Tulane students who had been arrested were released to campus police custody pending a court date. Usually, if the student stayed out of trouble, drunk and disorderly or criminal mischief charges were dropped in return for a minor fine, court costs, and restitution.
