A shocking new video has shown the moment a Jack in the Box drive-thru worker opened fire on a family after they argued about an order of french fries.
Anthony Ramos was at the Houston fast food joint with his pregnant wife and his 6-year-old daughter when employee Alonniea Ford opened fire at him in March 2021 near Bush Airport on John F. Kennedy Boulevard.
The dad had stopped to get food - but returned to the window when he noticed an order of curly fries was missing.
Alonniea Ford refused to fill the order - and an argument between the two ensued.
Footage showed Ford throwing ice and ketchup at Ramos and his family before she pulled out a gun.
She then started opening fire toward the car, as Ramos drove off. Ford has pleaded guilty to deadly conduct.
Authorities have released surveillance video more than two years after the ordeal. Ford was seen loading a gun in her pocket before the encounter, then leaning through the window and shooting at the family.
She was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and pleaded guilty to a deadly conduct charge.
Ramos said: 'I was dumbfounded by it. I really couldn't believe what was happening. It was scary. It was very, very scary.'
'It was more of a panic mode at that moment. I'm lucky that I saw it when I saw it and I was able to pull off when I did and then my initial reaction was to call the police.

Me? I check everything but I order just for me. A family of 3 has 3 chances to get it wrong.

With that said, it looks like she should have been behind bars instead of working at a Jack-in-the-Box.

Again I can only speak to CA law: vicarious liability of the employer does not extend to criminal acts of the employee, unless the employer knew or should have known of the employee’s propensity for violence. Why should it be otherwise? And, just because you have a cause of action doesn’t mean you’ve hit the jackpot and get to just start pulling numbers out of the air. It doesn’t appear the family was actually injured. JIB will be eager to settle just to clean up the PR mess. A quarter mil sounds about right. He’ll, I’d counsel them to take $100 or 150K, since JIB would win the case at summary judgment, and, of course, a judgment against the perp would be worthless

It was a woman. She sustained actual injuries; these people fortunately escaped injury. There’s a flaw in the jury system. I think that was a run away jury, and I would not have awarded a verdict of that size. There’s no mathematical formula to calculate what appropriate damages in this case would be, but you can draw rough comparisons, and a quarter million sounds about right
But remember what I said: if the law there is similar to CA, then the employer has no liability at all. That has a serious drag on the settlement value of the case, since PR is the only reason why the employer will offer anything at all
